I had butterflies in my stomach. I kept shifting my feet as I looked at the clock. There was two more hours before the graduation party starts. I wasn't prepared for it. I had to appear wearing a dress and makeup. Minji was all ready and she was going to be here in a few minutes.

I heard a knock at my room door. I opened it and saw my mother standing there. She had the motherly smile on and held a tender gaze over me.

"Time passes so fast. My daughter is graduating." She held my hand.

I smiled and put my hand over hers. "Yes, I know Ma."

"Do you have a dress? Why aren't you getting ready yet?" Mama asked.

"Heh. I'm really nervous and not really looking forward to the party." I said.

Mama narrowed her eyes. "How could you. Its your first time. You'll be able to present yourself as a feminine lady for once. I really want to see you done up prettily."

I glanced down and smiled again. "I hope I'll be up to your expectation."

I heard the doorbell. "Oh it must be Minji. She's here to help me get ready."

Mama nodded. "I'll be in the kitchen if you need me."

She stopped midway and turned to me again. "I forgot to give you something."

She reached into her apron pocket and took out a maroon box. Mama handed that box to me.

"You bought me something?" I asked.

"Yes. I saw it while shopping and thought that you'll look beautiful wearing it on graduation night."

I hugged her. "Thank you so much, Ma"

She hit my bum and told me to get the door.

When I opened the door, I saw a grumpy looking Minji. "What took you so long!"

I grinned awkwardly out of guilt. "Sorry."

I eyed her from top to bottom. She looked gorgeous! I'm so lucky to have such a pretty looking friend. Despite being really pretty, she never once put me down. She was really down-to-earth.

Minji had on a dark red sleeveless straight cut dress. A shiny black rope was tied at her waist which accentuated her figure. She wore gold high heeled pumps. A brown sling bag was hung on her shoulder. Her shoulder lengthed hair was swept up into a complicated knot.

"Okay, okay. Stop looking at me. Its time to get you gorgeous too." Minji pointed at me.

Minji threw me the dress we had bought earlier and told me to wear it.

Mine was a green lace sleeved dress. The sleeve ran half the length of my arm. There was a black belt tied to my waist. As I had said, I had lost weight. I was proud of my figure. I twirled around and observed the skirt of the dress swirl around. It was beautiful. Minji had her arms crossed and smiled as she looked at me.

"Now time for your hair and make-up." Minji said.

"Can you not make the make-up so thick? Make it look natural." I gave my preference.

Minji made the 'okay' sign and got to her work. I felt the brush tingle on my face and the lip gloss staining my lips. When she was done I raised my eyebrows and looked at Minji.

"You did a great job. This is magic." I pointed at my face.

She did my hair next. I looked at the maroon box Mama gave me. I took it in my hands and opened it. It was sapphire metal hairpin decorated in an intricate floral design. I showed it to Minji and she put it on my hair. She had tied my hair into a french braid and stuck the hairpin at the side of my head.

"You ready?" Minji breathed hard. She was nervous herself. We held hands and entered the hall.
