Chapter VII. Border Conflicts

The captain of the UNS Charlie stares out at the blue void of hyperspace, en route to an unclaimed system both the United Nations and the Galactic Empire wish to colonize.

Galactic reports indicate the Empire is weeks behind them in terms of setting up colonies, and that his ship would hold a speed advantage to set up over Tem-3 before any Imperial ship notices.

"Two minutes to arrival." A systems officer says behind the captain's seat.

"Get the satellite deployments ready and- what is that?" The Captain says, watching a hue of red and orange in front of the ship's hyperspace rays, before the ship slows violently, electric surges and power malfunctions rocking the ship as hyperspace begins to stop out of a sudden.

The ship violently exits hyperspace, thrusters, and shields disabled as the crew regains their footing.

"Report! What the hell happened!?" The Captain orders.

"Something pulled us out of hyperspace, last hyperspace reports indicate un unexpected gravity well surge that stopped the hyperdrive." A systems officer says.

Screens and lights re-activate as the ship's nuclear reactor comes back to life, the ship turning itself back on after the electrical malfunction.

"Sir, power is back on, but we're picking up a large signal about twenty miles behind us, radar pops up as some- Imperial starship! It pulled us out of hyperspace!" The systems officer says.

"How?! No tractor beam can lock on that fast! Turn us around, bear the guns!" The captain orders.

The cruiser begins to turn back around, evening itself out as large cannons, repurposed from old battleships and missile launchers from retrofitted cruisers open out of hatches and onto the surface of the cruiser.

"Hm. Right on time. Call the Venture to reinforce us, we don't know how those guns work." An Imperial Commander aboard the Interdictor-Class Star Destroyer, Enoch, orders.

The 16 inch guns on the cruiser begin firing, ballistic shells going straight through the shields but doing nothing to damage the thickened hull.

"Fire turbolasers, destroy their armaments."

Turbolasers begin firing openly, destroying several of the ships main guns as a pair of cruise missiles fly ouf of the side of the vessel, exploding on the Immobilizer's hull and disabling one of the gravity well spheres.

"Blasted- shields do nothing against those guns, we need the Venture here, stat!" The captain orders, bracing as a secondary 5 inch cannon rocks the deck hull just below the bridge, watching a pair of crew members fly out into space as the explosion dies out.

An Imperial Star Destroyer exits lightspeed right ahead of the Interdictor, firing dozens of ion cannons and completely disabling the cruiser, making sure not to destroy it.

"Oh thank the Emperor, we need more escort craft for these ships, we aren't well-armed enough to fight off any military ship." The captain says. "Send a report to the admiralty, let them know we've seized a Terran cruiser and what tactics to employ."

"And- what would those be?" An officer asks.

"More armor and ion guns will disable them, their main weaponry can fly straight through a ship's shields."

A battalion of Stormtroopers, the Empire's elite infantry stand at the ready in a corridor facing an external airlock, hearing the Star Destroyer and Cruiser dock with each other and the docking ramp extend, the door opening to a hallway full of fortified Terran infantry.

The Marines fire their assault rifles into the Imperial ship, smoke and fire filling the air as tracer rounds and red bolts fly through the halls, cover exploding from the blasters.

The Stormtroopers, wearing a specially manufactured armor set designed to stop ballistic rounds from penetrating, nearly all of them survive. They storm the cruiser as the Terrans retreat, the ship's fate nearly already sealed, as the Imperial forces storm, conquering every hall and room they find.

A squad of Stormtroopers enter the corridor just before the bridge, firing blasters at the remaining guards outside as several retreats into the bridge and seal the door.

"Get a crew here to blow that door, TK-1901 and 8502, ready stun grenades, the Admiral wants their command alive." A Stormtrooper Commander says, signaled by the orange pauldron on his shoulder pad.

A pair of Stormtroopers, holding door breacher detonators enter the hall, placing explosives on the door.

As they explode, they do nothing but blast the door off it's hinges as the troopers enter the bridge, switching to stun and blasting each Terran officer and soldier inside without a single casualty.

"Take them to cells, I'll report to Captain Needa on our progress." The commander orders, exiting the bridge.
