"She's amazing!" exclaimed James after class.                                                                                                                 "She's alright." I said.                                                                                                                                                                     "Alright! Alright! Mate, your kidding me right? She's the coolest girl in this school, and all you can say is 'she's alright' have you got rocks in your head Chris?" James said, taping my head.                                     "He's doing it again Chris, isn't he!" sighed Lucas.                                                                                                             "He is , I agree, tut tut, what are you like J." laughed Will. I smiled, laughing.                                                       " Doing what again?" asked James.                                                                                                                                         "Well, whenever there is a new girl you go all 'lovey dovey' about her and say how amazing she is and all that sort of stuff." I explained, still laughing.                                                                                                                 "No, I don't!" James argued.                                                                                                                                                       "Eh, yeah you do mate." Will responded.                                                                                                                               "Name a time then, Will. Go on!" James demanded.                                                                                                       "Okay, how about when Jenifer Johnson joined last year and you were talking about how, and I quote ' Amazingly flowy her hair is' and how ' her eyes reflect the projectors light, like an angels halo'!" Will laughed.                                                                                                                                                                                                 " Come on, we'll finish this later," intervened Lucas,"We've got science next."

For science we had the 'pleasure' of being taught by Mr. Greggory, Whos' voice resembled a tuneless mumble,on repeat.                                                                                                                                                                           I took my seat, again at the back of the class, alone, for the same reason as in English.                                   Whilst Mr. Greggory took the register the class sat in silent, which was ended by a quiet rasp at the door.                                                                                                                                                                                                       " Come in!" called Mr. Greggory.                                                                                                                                                Jinx entered.                                                                                                                                                                                       " Sorry I'm late,"she said with an innocent smile, revealing her pearl white teeth," I didn't know where I was meant to be going."                                                                                                                                                              "No problem, take a seat next to Mr. Wilson. " Mr. Greggory replied, and to my surprise; with a smile!     Mr. Greggory never smiles, never! Not even when he's giving the class a pop quiz which is extremely hard.

Jinx walked over and sat in the chair beside me.                                                                                                                "How'd you do that?" I turned and asked her.                                                                                                                       She didn't respond, instead she just turned to face me with a bewildered expression.                                    " Make Mr. Greggory smile, I mean. He never smiles, never." I added.                                                                      She sighed "He doesn't smile because he has nothing to smile about." She said simply.                                "What do you mean?" I asked.                                                                                                                                                     Another sigh "Hes' had to break up with the Spanish teacher,Miss. Soldier, because she didn't like the fact that they both are being mocked by those who claim to be 'popular'" she explained.                     " What?," I was shocked, I did not expect that, " How do you know that?" I asked, curious.                            "It's simple." her face blank, but her eyes met mine, they were a midnight blue , almost purple. She broke eye contact, quickly, turning to face the front of the room.                                                                               " Oh, yeah? How?" I asked, smiling.                                                                                                                                          " It's all he's thinking about, he might as well be saying it out loud" she said, her face going pink.          "You know what he is thinking? Are you telepathic or something?" I joked.                                                          "What! No! There's no such thing as powers, you might as well be saying ghosts were real." She said, defensively.                                                                                                                                                                              "Okay, okay. Sorry. No need to get defensive. I was making a joke, trying to release some of the tension in the air." I said, putting my hands up in surrender.                                                                                       " It's okay," Jinx said," Sorry it's just people have blamed me for so many things happening and  accusing me of things like witchcraft, I just get defensive." She explained sighing again.                                " No problemo, I get it," I said quietly,"I've had my fair share of bullying too, forget about  them, it's the easiest thing to do."                                                                                                                                                                  Jinx smiled slightly.                                                                                                                                                                           "Let's start again," I said, hold my hand out to her," Hi, I'm Chris. Nice to meet you."                                        She glanced at my hand for a moment, then sighed and shook it whilst saying " My name's Jinx."         We both smiled, but never once did she look me in the eye. It was then I decided that Jinx was a person of many secrets and mysteries, and I wasn't going anywhere anytime soon and I was determined to solve her. No matter what.
