"Hey man, whats up!" James ran up to me and gave me a fist bump.                                                                       "Not much,J, you?" I replied.                                                                                                                                                     "You know, same old, same old." He put his arm round my neck took me over to the rest of our group. Myself and James have been friends since kindergarten and know each other like brothers; he was a brother to me. We've stood by each other through everything, nothing got between us,not even a girl!                                                                                                                                                                                                 "Yo,Chris, Whats' up man" Lucas said to me as we approached the group giving me a side five.               "Chris, my man, hows it going?" Will spoke to me.                                                                                                           "Hey guys,so what's the latest?" I replied to them both.                                                                                               "Well,"said Lucas"Mr. Greggory has been seen with Miss.Solider, everyone's' saying their going out!" He laughed.                                                                                                                                                                                          "Seriously!? Who'd want to go out with that old hag! She's wrinklier than a prune !" exclaimed James with a laugh.                                                                                                                                                                                       "Not much else to say, mate, the school has been as boring as ever" Lucas sighed.                                           "Yes, but there are rumors going round about a new exchange student starting today," added Will "And apparently she's from England."                                                                                                                                     "Oooo, a Brit, ay?," spoke James,"I wonder if she's got that annoying accent that drives people mad."He added.                                                                                                                                                                         "You only find it annoying,J, 'cause of that girl you dated over the spring break when you went on holiday there and then she dumped you after a week, for her ex- who also had a British accent" I said to James laughing as the bell rang signalling the start of first period; English.

"Your thirty seconds late, Christopher Wilson!" angrily exclaimed Mrs.Roberts.                                                  "Sorry miss. It wont happen again" I replied quietly. Mrs.Roberts is extremely strict and really old, best thing to do with her is go with the flow.                                                                                                                       I took my seat at the back of the class. I sit on my own because and I quote ' Can't be trusted next to James' which means I have to sit on my own so I'm not a 'distraction to other students'.                              The class started as boring as usual, this lesson always seems to drag.Even Mrs.Roberts fell asleep  one time when the class was writing an essay on Shakespeare's' Hamlet. I mean who can blame her, Shakespeare's' work is so boring!                                                                                                                                              Halfway through the lesson, there was a quiet knock at the door. Mrs.Roberts walked over and opened it with a stern "Yes?"                                                                                                                                                        A girls' voice answered " I've been told to give you this note,Ma'am. I'm new here you see and I got a bit lost finding my way here." The voice was quiet but loud enough to hear the strong British accent in which it held.                                                                                                                                                                                       "Very well, come in and take a seat next to Mr.Wilson" Mrs.Roberts responded quickly, gesturing to the seat next to me at the back of the room.                                                                                                                         The girl entered. Her hair was long, raven black with red stripes within. Her skin as pale as snow with a few freckles upon her nose. She wore the school uniform, obviously, but instead of wearing a skirt like the other girls in the year, she wore trousers. This fact made the other girls in the class giggle behind their hands to each other.                                                                                                                                                          She took the seat next to me ,placing her blood red bag on the floor beside her.                                                 "Right,"Mrs.Roberts said," I best do the register." She went through the list of names ticking each one off.                                                                                                                                                                                                    "Hmm," she said when she'd finished," There are no new names... What did you say you name was dear?" she asked the new girl.                                                                                                                                                    "Oh, I didn't ma'am. But my name is Jinx" the girl responded politely.                                                                      "Jinx?" Asked Mrs.Roberts bewildered.                                                                                                                                 "Yes, ma'am. It is what people at my old school called me, so saving them calling it behind my back, I chose to go by it"Jinx answered matter of factually, oblivious to the rest of the class who had turned round to stare at her.                                                                                                                                                                         "Well, that's very nice dear but, I would like your real name please, as I see no reason for such name." Mrs.Roberts said.                                                                                                                                                                                "Ma'am," spoke Jinx, her voice shaking a little from the stares of the other students, that she now became aware of," If you don't mind, but I go by no other name , as I've been called Jinx for so long, I respond to nothing else"                                                                                                                                                                "Very well" sighed Mrs.Roberts, reluctantly "Jinx it is."
