I can't believe I was so careless! Christopher nearly caught me out! On my first day as well! I came to America to start a new life, to forget about my past. But how can I if it keeps coming back to haunt me?

"Right class," my thoughts were interrupted by Mr. Greggory, "Today we are going to see how long it takes to heat up magnesium metal and to see how long it takes to react with the flames Co2 emission." The class started towards the cupboard to receive a Bunsen burner.

"I'll go and get us what we need for the experiment." said Christopher ,getting up and joining the group of students surrounding the equipment cupboard.

I sighed, again. It was so boring here, but yet I felt as if I liked it. I know I don't and will never belong here, I don't feel like I will anyway. If I don't make this work I'll have to stay at home and be home schooled for the rest of my days; not going to happen- EVER!

The smell of gas filled the air from students light their Bunsen burners. 'I'm okay, I'm okay' I kept thinking to myself. I didn't mind fire at all, in fact I loved it. But the upper worlds fire scared me. It's because of the fact that more damage is done up here with it, than back home. Here is burns people , homes, animals, plants. But at home the fire has never been mistreated nor used to cause harm , like the upper worlders do.

"Hey, Jinx,"It was Christopher, concern was flickering on his face as he looked at me, "Are you okay? you've gone really pale."

"Yes, er, I'm fine." I said,as normally as I could.

"Okay, erm, could you plug this pipe into the gas tap, please" He said, handing me the pipe to the burner.

I took it and plugged it into the tap turning it on, igniting the flame. It burned brightly and danced in the air. I felt sick, like I was going to pass out.

"Jinx, you sure your okay?" Christopher asked me again, still eyeing me with concern.

I nodded, never taking my eyes of the flame. I couldn't do it. I bolted to the class room door ,Ignoring Mr. Greggorys' shouts behind me. I left the room, just in time. I leaned against the wall beside the classroom door, trying  to remain conscious  when the door opened, revealing the sounds of the class talking so loud they were yelling at each other. Christopher stood in the door way, looking at me with a worried expression upon his face.

"Jinx?" He spoke, his voice calm.

"Hmm?" I responded, scared that if I said anything else I would throw up.

"Your not okay and I'm taking you to the nurse." He commanded.

I stood up properly, my head was spinning."No,"I said," I'm fine, Christopher, really." trying to convince myself as much as him.

"No, your not, I'm taking you to the nurse, Jinx." He took a step towards me, letting the class room door swing shut behind him.

I took a step back from him and almost falling over in doing so. "S-stay away from me!" I told him.

"Jinx," he sighed, " Don't be stupid, I'm trying to help you."
