Communication 18: Komi's beauty salon. ✂️

Komi's POV:

I'm so tired... we've been doing lots of things the whole week... I was laying on my bed reading some magazines from the mall.

After a while, I saw the dress both Henry and Tadano bought for me... I'm very thankful.

'Of all the different dresses that I saw, this was my favorite... I'm so glad they chose this one...'

While looking in the mirror, I saw that my hair bangs were a bit too long.

'... OK, I'm going!'

After a short walk, I arrived at the beauty salon I usually go, however...

???: "Welcome! Please, come inside!"

Someone I've never met before was standing at the door...

'Oh, no. Did I get it wrong? Did the salon move? Oh god, what do I do? What do I do? What do I do!?'

I was trembling, super hard, until...

???: "Ah, Shouko, welcome, please, come inside."

Apparently, the person on the entrance was just a novice that Maki Karisu, my stylist, had hired...

'Thank goodness... I thought I got lost...'

I went inside and took a sit. Karisu explained to me that the girl I met at the door was Kamiko Arai-.

Arai: "STUPENDOUS WORK, KARISU!"

"EEP!"

Karisu: "Don't startle me! Any way... it's been a while, how would you like your hair?"

She then began inspecting my hair, I was very calm; staying close to those who I know and like, makes me get very calm... maybe that's why I don't get nervous when I'm close to-.

Karisu: "So, short and blonde?"

'OH, HECK NAAH!'

I shook my head so fast it was almost about to come out...

Karisu: "I'm kidding... I'll give you the usual."

It's been quite a while since I had Karisu cut my hair, however, I'm always so calm thanks to the silence there always is around here...

'It's always so nice in here...' or so I thought, since Arai was... taking photos of us?

Karisu: "Arai, what are you doing? Get to work."

Arai: "Huh? Oh, sure... would you like a complementary drink?"

I was going to say yes, since Karisu's only checking my hair, but my hand got stuck on the drape.

After she left for some other magazines I pretended to be asleep, so I don't have to speak with her...

Arai: "Huh? Is she asleep?"

Karisu: "Well, she's pretending to."

'Darn it, Karisu!'

Karisu: "Are you now in high school, Shouko? How is it?"

When she asked that I was wanting to talk about Henry and Tadano, but the words couldn't come out of my mouth.

Henry's mirage: "Komi, if  you want to talk about something, but can't, try only using simple words, like 'fun' or 'boring' and such."

Tadano's mirage: "Yeah, don't push yourself into speaking if you can't."

That memory of Henry and Tadano hit me like a bullet, and I tried to do as they said.

"F-...fun."

Karisu: "Fun, eh? That's good, that's very good Shouko."

'I did it! Thank you guys!'

After some cutting, Karisu asked Arai to finish the job, but...

Arai: "I started in April, so I'm still getting used to the job. If there's anything wrong, just tell me. How long have you been coming here?"

This girl has the exact same excentric and chitchatting personality as Najimi. I tried to talk to her like with Karisu, but I couldn't. Then, they hit me again.

Henry's mirage: "Oh, Komi! I almost forgot, if someone you don't know is trying to talk to you, it's almost impossible to talk to them..."

That's right! I've been going here since I was twelve, but Karisu always did her job with me, Arai's someone I don't know, what do I do!?

Tadano's mirage: "If so, Henry, what do we do?" 

Henry's mirage: "If you don't have your notebook and want to talk to someone you don't know, find something that represents what you're trying to tell them, like a magazine, or some numbers; just like you did when you asked Najimi and Agari for their phone numbers."

Oh! That's true! I found in the desk a magazine with the number twelve and I pointed it at her. 

Arai: "...O-oh? ... since you were twelve?"

I nodded to answer her, but she seemed like she was going insane, maybe it's because she didn't understand my situation...

After some washing, it was done.

I paid and then went home.

The next day, I went back at school to see if they could tell I'd cut my hair.

Najimi: "Good morning Komi!"

'Nope, they didn't spot it...'

Agari: "G-g-g- good morning, Ko-Komi!"

'She didn't either, I wished she stopped playing like if she was my doggie...'

Yamai: "Hi, Komi! You look pretty, as per usual!"

'With as per usual you mean you hadn't noticed, did you?'

Henry and Tadano came together and sat.

Henry: "Hi, Komi, you're early today too, huh?"

Tadano: "Good morning."

I wanted to say hi regularly, but instead I used my notebook.

"Morning, guys."

'They can't see it either, can they...?'

Henry: "Hey, sorry if I'm wrong, but, did you cut your hair?"

Tadano: "I was about to say, you looked different today too!"

Henry: "I mean, you can barely tell, but, it's fitting."

'There we go! They realized! I always like when people do...'

Najimi: "Wait, you did!? I couldn't tell!"

Agari: "I totally failed as Komi's pup..."

Yamai: "Nooooo! I can't believe I couldn't notice!! I'm ashamed at myself..."

Henry: "Cut the drama already, it's not that big of a deal!"

Even if it wasn't a big deal, I'm always happy that people notice about it.
