First off, I want to thank every one of you for reading this story and for giving me the chance to share my very first book with you. This was a dream for me to start writing, and I appreciate every reader who took this journey with me. This book is actually a more condensed version of the story I originally wanted to write, but I did my best to keep it exciting and meaningful without making it drag. Going forward, you can expect similar lengths for each chapter in my next works, though I'm planning on longer books that can go into even more depth.
Writing this story has been deeply personal for me (minus the part where I date my idol—I WISH!). This fan-idol relationship is more than just a fan fiction, it reflects the slow, genuine connection and real-life emotions that come with falling in love. When I first started posting, I was really nervous. I wasn't sure if this slower, more gradual story would match what you guys expected. Maybe some of you imagined a fan-idol romance where Rosé quickly falls in love with Jennie, and they jump straight into a relationship. But from the start, I wanted to show a real, slow connection, not just a "fantasy," as Jennie's mom would say.
I know this story being a slow burn and the wait for new chapters, wasn't easy! I posted about eight chapters a week, but I can totally understand if that still felt slow. Part of me wanted to get to the "good parts" faster too, but I realized that the slow pacing gave the characters room to grow in the your guys' eyes. I wanted Jennie and Rosé's love to feel earned, and I hoped that also showing the ups and downs of their journey would make their bond feel deeper and more meaningful. I wanted to show that real relationships take time and patience, and that the challenges they faced only made their love stronger in the end.
You can definitely see the big difference between Jennie's relationship with Minwoo (who I seriously dislike, by the way) and her love for Rosé. I know a lot of us wanted to scream at Minwoo, but he's there as a contrast to show what a genuine, healthy relationship looks like. And then there's Hyunjae—who honestly, is also the worst in his own way. His character might seem over-the-top, but I think people like him really do exist, which is scary but realistic. I wanted to show that not all love stories are fairytales and that some relationships are meant to teach us about what we don't want.
And, of course, there's Hayoon. Sometimes I have to remind myself that she's not real because she feels so vivid to me. I'd love to have a daughter like her someday; I always imagine her being such a mommy's girl and a mini version of Jennie. We also have to give her some credit for saving her parents relationship in a way. I also can't get over her dedication in the epilogue; seeing her honor her parents with her work was such a powerful way to bring everything full circle. She feels like a real part of the story, and I'm beyond proud of how her character developed (even if she is fake T-T).
If you loved this story, I do recommend reading it again in the future—slowly this time! There are a few small details and hints that connect from the beginning to the end. I recently reread it myself, and it made me love Jennie and Rosé's journey even more. Their growth, their hardships, and their quiet moments together felt even more powerful seeing it all unfold from start to finish. It feels a little weird to say this, but I'm really proud of the story I've created. I poured so much of myself into this book, and seeing how it came together means the world to me.
I hope that, in some way, this story felt fresh and unique compared to typical fan fiction. I wanted to give you all a love story that feels real, one that doesn't rely on fantasy but on genuine connection and character growth. If you're into this kind of storytelling, I'm happy to say I have another Chaennie book in the works! This one is going to be all about teenage love and second chances, and I can't wait to share it with you. Thank you all again for your support, your comments, and for allowing me to tell this story. I hope you enjoy my future stories as much as I've enjoyed writing this one.
Always with love,
Liv
