"You think I'm pretty?" Reece asked with a cheeky grin.
"Don't get ahead of yourself." Celina replied with a roll of her eyes.
"combat, i'm ready for combat. I say I don't want that, but what if I do?"
001.
Murmurs were passed around at the rumour of a new rookie joining the force from the academy. Many wondered if he'd even make it past his first few days, or if it was even a guy. Female cops were becoming more uncommon as the minutes passed.
Nyla was seated in Grey's office, clearly having being called there for a reason. "So, uh, rumour is I am getting a new rookie today." She said and glanced at Grey.
He placed a file down to the side of him before interlocking his fingers and sitting forward. "Yeah, we need to talk about that." He said.
"Ok, that doesn't sound good." Nyla said before there was a series of knocks at the door. Grey gestured to it and Nyla turned to look who it was.
It was Tim. "You wanted to see me, sir?" He walked in, hands on his duty belt as a normal position.
"Yeah.. I'm afraid I got a complaint about your uniform." Grey stood up and crossed his arms, looking at Tim.
Nyla added, "Yeah, that department issued Sergeant's badge," She pointed to it, "That won't do." She then turned around and picked up a small, navy box off of the desk, "That is 80% tin, but this is solid silver, and real gold." She opened the box to reveal a shining Sergeant's badge, reflective of how Tim had shined as a training officer and now a Sergeant. Nyla had a smug grin on her face as she looked up at Tim, clearly happy for him to receive it.
"Thank you." He replied, a hint of a smile on his face. He quickly unclipped the old one and let Grey clip the new one on.
"See, you earned it." Grey began, making sure the badge was on properly.
"I won't let you down." Tim replied.
"Sure you won't." Grey said sarcastically, earning a confused look from Tim as he glanced between Nyla and Wade.
"This is a hard transition. You will fail as much as you succeed. And you are starting your watch on the craziest weekend of the year." He said, while Nyla watched the two of them as if it was a tennis match.
"I can handle that, I've been a supervisor before." He said, as if being security for a gala was easy.
"Different animal." Grey replied instantly, "TOs are drill sergeants, supervisors.. coaches."
