Author's POV

The next morning Beca woke up and went straight down for coffee, leaving Izzie in her bed alone. Unfortunately for her, Chloe had the same idea. "Oh, morning", the redhead said when she saw Beca entering the kitchen. Beca was dreading this since she could not fall asleep last night after the conversation she had with Chloe. "Coffee?", Chloe asked while getting another mug from the shelf to which Beca just nodded to and sat down at the dining table. There was a cold and chilling silence between the two of them. "Here", Chloe placed the mug on the table and sat down across her. "Thanks", Beca replied.

"So..", Chloe let out.

"So?", Beca asked, confused as she quirked an eyebrow up.

"How did you- how did you sleep?", Chloe asked. "What are we doing, Chlo?", Beca let out a light laugh and took a sip of her coffee. "I just- Our conversation got cut short last night", Chloe replied. "Yeah, by your girlfriend and that snapped me back to reality", Beca fiddled with her mug. "What's that supposed to mean?", Chloe shrugged. "Just- I don't know, Chlo. I don't know where we stand anymore, you have a girlfriend and as much as I hate it, I can't ignore that", Beca looked down at her mug. "I know. But, if-", Chloe cleared her throat and readjusted herself on the chair. "If I came back and- and Alice was out of the picture, would- do you think you would give us another shot?", she asked. Beca sighed out and shrugged, "I don't know. Maybe? I mean it would make things easier", Beca let out truthfully. "But all I know is- I- I can't do this anymore, Chloe. Last night really snapped me out, I can't keep having this back-and-forth thing with you and just- just wait for you to even look my way", she added.

"Becs- it's not that easy for me", Chloe replied.

Beca's eyes snapped back to Chloe and stared into her blue eyes. "For you? So, I'm supposed to just wait for you like a dog and just stay there when you need me cause it's convenient for you?", Beca's voice slightly raised with frustration. "That's not what I meant. I just- I literally do not know what to do, Beca", Chloe said. "Decide. That's what you need to do. Me or her. I can't keep hoping that there's a chance for us if you're still with her", Beca said sternly. "Becs, don't do that to me", Chloe sighed out and stood up to walk to the sink. "I'm serious. Either you break it up with her and we give this another shot, or- or tell me right now that you don't want this anymore. Because it is tiring, Chlo. I'm finally getting better and accepting the fact that maybe we just weren't right. But now you come back with your little girlfriend, and you-you touch me and- and kiss me and I- I can't keep leaving the door open for you. I need to know. Now.", Beca walked closer to her. "No. I'm not doing that. This is not high school! It's- it's unfair", Chloe let out. "Me or her." Beca said even firmly. "What am I supposed to say to her, Becs? 'Oh, I'm dumping her for my ex'? That's not fair to her. I-I love her", the redhead fiddled with her fingers. "Then I suggest you cut off this little mind game that you've been playing with me and stay out of my way. I don't want anything to do with you anymore", Beca sighed out. "Becs, that doesn't-", Chloe was about to continue when she heard someone clearing their throat.

They both turned their heads to see Aubrey and Stacie staring at them. "Is everything okay here?", Aubrey asked. Chloe rubbed her eyes clean, getting rid of the tears that were forming as Beca replied, "Yeah, I was- was about to head out for work". She took another look at Chloe who looked into her eyes pleadingly before she turned away and rested her hands on the kitchen counter. "I'm gonna make a move now, tell Emily I'll be back a little late so don't wait up for me", Beca said to Aubrey as she walked to the door. "Thanks for the coffee, Chloe", she said before heading out. "Uh, babe, why don't you go and start the car and I'll come out in a bit?", Aubrey turned to Stacie who just nodded and walked out. "What happened?", the tall blonde walked closer to Chloe who now has her head buried in her hands. "This was a mistake", she shook her head. "I shouldn't have come back here", she sighed out and looked at Aubrey who pulled her in for a tight hug.

Beca arrived at her store and right as she sat down, she received a phone call. "Hey", she said into the phone. "You left early today, was it that bad?", Izzie chuckled. "Yeah, sorry 'bout that, just had a little bit of an emergency at the store that I needed to uh- attend to. Are you still there?", Beca asked. "Yeah, I'm getting ready to leave now, don't worry I know my way out. Just making sure you're okay", she replied to which Beca let out a light chuckle. "Why not, you make it up to me?", Izzie said in a teasing voice. "Hm, what do you have in mind?", the brunette replied. "Take me out to dinner tomorrow night, 8pm. Don't be late", she demanded. "Yes ma'am", Beca smiled before hanging up.
