Thunder looked at the doctor as he said, "He's ready for an X-ray." Thunder nodded, a mix of concern and determination etched on his face, as he carefully lifted Chen into his arms. "Father, let me go," Chen protested. "I'm 21; I can walk by myself." Thunder halted and fixed his gaze on Chen. "Don't you realize that you could've broken your ankle?" Thunder's voice was laced with worry. Chen lifted his pained leg. "Does this look broken to you?" he challenged. Thunder's expression softened. "But maybe it's a hairline fracture," he suggested gently. Silenced by the possibility, Chen followed Thunder as they made their way into the X-ray room. Placing Chen on the examination table, the doctor requested, "Please wait outside." Alone in the corridor, Thunder's mind spiraled with anxious scenarios. What if Chen's ankle was truly broken? What if he had damaged a vein? Each thought amplified his nervousness, sending bolts of anxiety through him. The clock ticked slowly, each second stretching into an eternity. Thunder paced back and forth, his worry palpable in the air. Would Chen be alright? Was he in pain? Questions swirled in his mind, painting vivid scenes of worst-case scenarios. Finally, the door opened, and the doctor stepped out. Thunder's heart pounded in anticipation. The doctor's expression gave nothing away as he glanced at Thunder before revealing the results. With a deep breath, Thunder braced himself for the news, hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. The doctor's words hung in the air, silencing all other sounds. "The X-ray shows no signs of a fracture," the doctor announced, relief flooding through Thunder like a rushing river. A weight lifted off Thunder's shoulders as he exhaled, a mixture of gratitude and joy washing over him. Chen was safe, and Thunder's fears were put to rest. In that moment, he realized the depth of his love and concern for his son, knowing he would always be there, ready to weather any storm that came their way.
