"Jackpot!" Kiara announced.
The other two girls who had gone out to look for food with her looked back with a grin.
They ran over, finding a seat on the ground as Kie split the watermelon open with a pocket knife.
She handed half to Sarah, and held the other half in between herself and Cory.
The girls began to dig in, fully using their hands to pick out pieces of the fruit.
"Holy shit," Sarah sighed as she ate.
"Okay," Cory said, turning to the girl. "So you really got married?"
"It wasn't exactly legal, but..." Sarah smiled. "Yeah." The girls smiled at each other sweetly as they continued eating their breakfast. "Am I crazy, or is there definitely something going on between you and Pope?" She asked, turning on Kiara.
"Maybe," Kie shrugged.
Cory raised her brows at the girl, trying to get her first inkling of Kie's opinions on the situation.
"That's not a no," Sarah said.
Kie shrugged again. "It's not a no."
"Girl," Cory mumbled, placing another piece of melon into her mouth.
Kie turned on her, nudging her side. "Don't you start. I will turn this right around on you."
"Oh, JJ?" Sarah asked.
"How did you–" Cory sighed.
Kiara and Sarah immediately burst into laughs, nudging Cory gently.
"Oh come on, Cory," Sarah pleaded. "I was dead to the world. You can at least tell me what's going on with JJ."
Cory smiled, a blush exploding on her cheeks.
"I dunno," she sighed. "There's really nothing–"
"Don't you even!" Kie snapped.
"I'm serious!" Cory chuckled. "I feel like we've had no real time to talk recently. Without, y'know, like being on some stupid gold hunting mission."
Kiara and Sarah both immediately began to nod in understanding.
"Yeah, but I saw you two last night," Kiara teased.
"What happened last night?" Sarah asked with interested eyes.
"Oh nothing," Cory dismissed.
"They were cuddling in their sleep," Kiara gossiped.
Cory's eyes went wide and her smile dropped. "What? We did not."
"Oh, yeah, you did," Kie snapped back.
"Oh my god!" Sarah cried out, her girly reaction easily putting Cory at ease.
"I woke up at sunset," Kiara began to explain. "And I looked over and JJ had his arms wrapped around you."
Cory shook her head. "There's no way. I would have–"
"And I saw you two smoking," Kiara continued. "Blowing the smoke into each other's mouths."
"You did not!" Sarah cried out, nudging Cory's leg.
Cory shrugged. "Okay, that one was true."
"Both were true!" Kie argued.
"Nuh-uh!"
"Yuh-huh!"
A burst of giggles came out of the group of girls as they continued, a sort of peace overcoming them for the first time in weeks.
