Cory reentered the church, noticing JJ's shitty coverup of the cross.

She chuckled.

"Good thing I stayed back," she mumbled, stepping up to it.

She began to move the cushions around, using pews to cover as much of the cross as she could.

Faintly, she heard a soft whistle.

Cory furrowed her brows, standing up straight and turning back to the doors.

She stepped forward nervously, slowly placing her hand around the handle. Then, she was pushing the door open.

Before she could comprehend the two men standing just feet away from her, there was a whistle, and then excruciating pain exploded in her left forearm.

Cory stumbled back into the church, reaching down for her arm. Sticking out of it was an arrow, like the ones that had been just inches from her face the day prior.

Then, the two men were entering the church, shutting the door behind them.

Renfield–Limbreys goon, was one of them. The second was Rafe Cameron.

Cory immediately felt her whole body tense up nervously. Being alone with just one of these men was enough to scare the shit out of her.

And now she had an arrow sticking out of her arm.

Rafe smiled softly. "Hey, Cory."

Cory swallowed, trying to figure out what to do. She wasn't sure if she had hid the cross behind her well enough, but she also couldn't get into a fight with these two. She'd never win.

Her hand was wrapped around her arm, slowly becoming covered in blood.

"You just shot me," Cory settled on.

Rafe rolled his eyes, his smile dropping.

"No, I didn't," he said.

"Yes you did!" Cory cried out. "There is an arrow sticking out of my arm!"

Rafe gestured as if to say, 'well, yeah'.

Then, he was stepping forward.

"So, I think you all found something," he said as he slowly sauntered forward. "Something very special."

Cory swallowed nervously. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Yes you do," Renfield spat, starting forward.

"Hey!" Cory said suddenly in an attempt at stopping the two men. "Uhh, where are you going?"

"It's here," Rafe mumbled.

"What's here?" Cory asked, taking a step back to stand in front of the pile of cushions and pews.

Rafe froze suddenly, giving her a look. He noticed the pile behind her. He looked over at Renfield, gesturing toward the pile.

Then, before Cory knew what was happening, they were moving forward and beginning to pull stuff off of the cross.

"Hey!" Cory cried out, reaching with her good arm to grab Rafe. She attempted to pull him off, only for him to throw her down to the ground.

Cory grunted in pain, but got right back up, rearing her foot back and throwing it into Rafe's calf.

He turned back to her angrily, his eyebrows raised.

"It's–it's not here!" Cory cried out.

But Renfield was still digging.

Cory turned to him, grabbing onto one of his arms. He simply threw her off of him, knocking her to the ground.
