I ran to hug my Dad, both of us smiling, my Mum looked on fondly.

"Adam offered to drive us down." I informed them with a look over at Adam who looked nervous and awkward.

"Thank you Adam." My Dad smiled and offered out his hand. "John." They shook hands and Adam genuinely smiled.

"Hi there Nat." My Mum hugged me this time, pressing a kiss to my cheek. "Nice to meet you Adam, I'm Kathy."

"It's great to get to know you two." Adam's words were completely truthful, we all went inside and headed into the living room. I leant against Adam immediately, I just love being close to him.

"Can I get you anything?" Dad asked from the doorway.

"I'd love a Diet Coke." I smiled and looked at Adam, his knee was bouncing up and down maybe because he was nervous or just ADHD. "And he'll have a coffee." Adam nodded with a smile.

"You do pay attention." He teased.

"Ah, you know I like to surprise you sometimes." I laughed, kissing his nose which he then scrunched and dear god, my poor heart. "You know, if you keep looking so damn adorable and sexy I think my poor heart might just give up."

"I can't have that now." Adam frowned, although his eyes were still bright with happiness. He's been like that all day and it feels great to see that. "So, Kathy, what embarrassing stories can you tell me?"

"Oh god." I groaned, burying my face in Adam's shirt.

"You know, we have a few albums we can show you." I could hear the evil smirk in my Mum's voice.

"I hate all of you." I complained as Adam shifted to get a better view.

"No you don't." He answered more as a reflex than anything else, he was engrossed in whatever photos Mum had found to show him.

"I'll just nap here." I let my eyes drift shut as I sat against Adam, his voice sounded beautiful although I couldn't really make out words it made his body rumble in a comforting way, every now and again he'd let out a musical laugh which would force a smile on my face. Eventually I drifted to sleep.

"It's okay, I've got her John. We'll pop round as soon as we can."

"Thanks Adam. She's in good hands, thank you." I felt myself being carried but I was just so tired, I rolled towards the warmth.

"You should really wake up." Adam suggested, a hint of humour in his voice.

"I'm so tired though." I forced the words from my mouth, they slurred together slightly.

"You won't be able to sleep through the night."

"Shut up Adam." I groaned.

"Fine. No complaining when you can't sleep."

"Fine. No complaints." I agreed, the silence enough to lull me back to sleep.

Okay. Adam was right, he was sleeping soundly. A little smile on his face. And I am not asleep. I know one thing that gets me sleepy without a doubt but the idiot is sleeping now. I stumbled down to the kitchen and made some hot chocolate, sipping at the drink in the hopes it would relax me enough to fall asleep. I was heading back upstairs when I crashed into a warm thing, arms stopping me from falling.

"Here you are." Adam sighed, apparently relieved.

"Of course I'm here. Just couldn't sleep." I admitted sheepishly.

"Told you." He smirked as we headed upstairs together.

"Why did you think I'd be gone?" He remained silent for a moment, not talking till we were back in bed.

"I had a nightmare." His voice was quiet, as if he was ashamed to admit this to me. "You, you had left me." I think it was a lie, the way he was avoiding my eyes and playing with his fingers but I didn't question him. "And, I missed you so much and it hurt me. Damn it Nat, don't leave me." His eyes were full of tears when he looked at me.

"I wouldn't dream of it baby." I pulled him close, peppering kisses over his face.

"It was so horrible. And I woke up and you weren't in bed. I thought that maybe you had really gone. And I was alone. Again."

"You won't be alone Adam. Ever. Okay. I love you, and I won't be leaving you." I looked him dead in the eyes as I made the promise, desperate for him to see how much I meant it.

"I know. I won't leave you either. I need you. You, you help me control that other part of me." His eyes looked lost and hurt and broken and it was killing me.

"Shush. Let's forget about this, alright?" He nodded. "We have The Voice tomorrow that always helps you relax. And the boys said they'd come." He smiled and lay back down.

"You're right. We should sleep." Adam was asleep in minutes, his arms holding me close. I managed to reach my phone and send a quick text to Blake, so he can warn the others that Adam will likely be a little touchy tomorrow. I don't need someone pushing him over the edge.

"Go shower idiot." I shoved Adam towards the bedroom.

"Join me?" He asked hopefully.

"Not today Rock Star, you need to get ready quickly. I'll make breakfast." He pouted but headed on his way. I rushed downstairs to cook him a breakfast, throwing on some bacon, toast and eggs. It was busy and I may have given myself too many jobs, but just as it got difficult Adam showed up. It was so domesticated, so routine, but both of us were smiling like idiots.

"I love you, did you know that?" Adam said with a mouthful of bacon, I tried not to laugh as that would only encourage him.

"I had noticed." I smiled at him, grabbing some orange juice and pouring both of us a glass. "I love you as well."

"We're getting incredibly sappy." He noted, and he was right.

"Ah well. That happens when you're in love." I shrugged, taking a bite out of my toastie.

"Very true indeed. I am in love, and I am so lucky that you don't hate me. I can never thank you enough for somehow being able to look past all my imperfections and flaws. And some of them are pretty big."

"Adam, they make you who you are. There is no seeing past them, there's just accepting them." He nodded thoughtfully, it's true, the 'other' Adam may not be lovely but it's part of Adam and he may be under control now but he isn't gone. We both know that.

"Let's head out." He sighed after we finished breakfast.

"Sounds good, don't really want to be late. Especially because I know for a fact that Jesse has left already."

"Fuck. He's gunna beat me." Adam complained, with a frown and a pout.

"Yeah, well we may just beat him to it if we leave now." I'm not sure I've seen Adam move so fast in my life. I laughed as I hurried out the house after him, watching him nearly fall over countless times, he left me to lock up and had the car running by the time I got there. "Eager?" He just chuckled and sped away from the house. Damn. He sure is competitive.
