The first fruits harvest is the first agricultural produce of the harvest, such as the grain and cereal harvested in the spring in ancient Palestine.  The Feast of Firstfruits was a festival that celebrated and thanked YHVH for the first fruits of the harvest. It was also known as the Day of First Fruits, the Feast of Weeks, Festival of Reaping, Pentecost, or Shavuot.

The first fruits harvest was a significant part of the biblical calendar, and the Israelites were required to come to Jerusalem three times a year for holy convocations to celebrate the harvest. The other two great pilgrimage feasts were Passover and Tabernacles.

In modern times, the concept of first fruits can also refer to an annual gift to a church that is given during harvest time. This gift can be any income, wealth, or blessings that a beliver has received over the year.
