🎧: Fight or Flight - Conan Grey
(THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW).
"Amelia, it's Christmas. Are you sure you don't want to wait until tomorrow to go to New-York?" Harper asked the younger Holland sibling, hopping she could convince her to stay a bit longer.
"Harper, I know you're trying to help but I need some quiet alone time" Amelia shot her an apologetic smile. They proceeded to load her bag in the car and went back inside to say goodbye.
"When are we ever going to get a normal Christmas" Tipper sighed as she offered the girl a short hug.
"I'm sorry, really" Amelia apologized feeling guilty for the events of the night before.
"It's okay sweetheart, I didn't really like that Brooke girl anyway. Plus, her proposal was so boring" Tipper rolled her eyes, making the rest of the room chuckle.
The drive to the airport was quiet. Amelia contemplated the city through the window, a thousand questions running through her mind. Was it right, what she'd done the day before? Was it right to say those words although she knew Riley's situation? She'd interrupted a lame proposal but still. She'd promised herself to never stand between two persons who claimed to love each other, but she did. Although, in the end, it didn't matter.
"Sorry" Harper excused herself walking away from Abby and Amelia as they walked into the airport. Her phone had been ringing the entire ride. The two sisters observed her from a distance as she called back the person who'd been quite literally harassing her for the past twenty minutes.
"Hello?" Harper said hesitantly, waiting for the other person to say something.
"Harper, where is she?" Riley's voice sounded desperate.
"Riley, hi. Why would I share this information?" Harper answered defensively. Although she knew her relationship with her fiancé's younger sister wasn't ideal, she felt terrible for her.
"Look, I know I messed up but I really need to talk to her. I can fix this, I- I need to fix this" she hoped her old friend would give in and answer her question.
"What about Brooke? What does she think about this?" Harper asked, intentionally faking concern. A loud sigh echoed through the phone.
"Forget about Brooke. Please Harper, I need to see her. I need to talk to Amelia" with each word she sounded more desperate.
"Fine. We're at the airport, her flight leaves in less than an hour" as the words left Harper's mouth, silence settled on the other side of the phone. "I can try to keep her on that side but she's going to want to go through security soon" she offered.
"I'll be there in fifteen minutes" Riley spoke quickly before hanging up. Harper walked back to Abby and Amelia who seemed a bit confused.
"What was that? Is everything okay?" Abby asked, worryingly placing her hand on Harper's lower back.
"Yeah, it's- work" she lied. Everyone could tell she was lying but no one cared to ask more questions about it.
"Well, I think I'm going to go through security and get some breakfast on the other side" Amelia forced a smile, holding tightly on the strap of her bag.
"No!" Harper almost yelled, making both girls jump slightly. "No, don't wait until you're on the other side to have breakfast, we can grab something together" she explained trying to regain a calmer behaviour.
"I'd rather just go over there, then I won't have to worry about anything" the younger girl declined the offer.
"But come on, we barely spent time together" Harper insisted.
