Rosepetal found Stripes packing his bags in his quarters.

"Stripes, what's going on?" Rosepetal asked, confusion etched on her face.

Stripes' expression was distant, his voice detached. "I need to attend to some personal matters. I'll be gone for a few days."

Rosepetal's ears folded back, sensing something amiss. "Is everything okay? You've been acting strange since yesterday."

Stripes shrugged, avoiding eye contact. "Just need some time alone."

Rosepetal's heart ached as Stripes' demeanor erased their intimate moments, their whispered promises.

"Stripes, what's happening?" Rosepetal asked, her voice trembling. "Have I done something wrong?"

Stripes' expression remained neutral. "No, Rosepetal. This has nothing to do with you."

The words stung. Rosepetal felt as if their bond had been reduced to nothing.

"Okay," Rosepetal said, trying to keep her emotions in check. "But know I'm here for you."

Stripes nodded curtly, his eyes already distant.

As he departed, Rosepetal watched, feeling lost and confused.

A single question echoed in her mind: Had their love been just a fleeting dream?
