Chapter 15

Asia was slowly becoming accustomed to the new life she was living- moving into the Hyoudou family home at your suggestion and learning her duties as part of Rias' peerage with Issei and Rias after school; during school hours however she usually hung out with you and learnt what she should do in school or how to make friends with people, due to her enrolling in the school and having you as her guide, your response to the student council was later than expected and soon they began to badger you at any chance they got.

Asia finally found herself a group of friends during the day allowing you to return to peaceful solitude- well kind of, during school you found yourself actually having more fun skipping classes on the roof with a bunch of other delinquents; they smoked, gambled, brought in videogames and were actually really kind people if you didn't jump to immediately judging people- they apologised for judging you the first time you showed up on the roof as well and complimented your tattoos, they were nice people and that was what made becoming a DC officer harder. It weighed on you heavily, trying to decide between becoming a DC officer and hanging out with new friends on the roof and suddenly it hit you, why was it hard to choose? There was only one right choice, you had friends now, people you were close too and got along with why would you betray them by becoming the one person with the power to shut them down. You finally decided to deny Sona's request; heading to the office one lunch time to finally tell her your decision.

Sona: " No need to knock Mr Hyoudou "

Your fist hadn't even raised from your side yet and you were already called inside, clicking the handle of the door as you slowly opened it and stepped inside- your eyes adjusting to the slightly darker room as you noticed every member of the Student council sat inside it.

Sona: " I take it you finally made a decision "

You: " You could say that "

Sona: " Fancy talking over another game of chess, see if you can force a draw again? "

You smirked and nodded, joining her at a small table by the window; you could feel the eyes on you as if they were almost glaring but you sat across from the Student Council President and calmly spun the board once again to give her the first turn just like you had the first time.

Sona: " So, you say you have made a decision, your face still looks indecisive "

You: " I guess I am a little "

Sona: " What's the reason why? "

You noticed something was off, she was playing aggressively which wasn't her style and at that, she was purposefully losing- making her pieces move into odd and even random places as if she had no desire to win.

You: " Tell me, why do you offer everyone a chance to play chess- mainly guys I hear though "

Sona: " If you can beat me I'll tell you "

You smirked, moving a piece forwards- copying her style and even beginning to copy her exact moves as well once you matched the pieces to her's. She seemed to notice rather quickly and began to scowl at you almost upset by the fact you also showed no desire to win.

Sona: " Fine, let's make a deal; you tell me your reason for being indecisive and I'll let you know my chess secret "

You: " Don't say chess secret that sounds dodgy "

She blushed and covered her bust with her arms; you laughed and played your next move before looking her in the eyes.

You: " I've made friends with the delinquents; I've gotten to know them. They're only mean because people immediately judge them to be bullies or in a gang despite them not being. A lot of them only skip class because of educational or behavioural problems, some of them can't sit still, can't read, can't deal with the busy atmosphere, They're in need of help and personally I think I can help them more as a friend over a DC officer where it'll be my job to punish and drag them to places they so desperately don't want to be "

Sona: " I see; well let me tell you this- we NEED a DC officer, whether it's you or someone else. Who do you think will help them more, someone who doesn't understand them and doesn't care because they don't know them or you, someone who does know them; someone who has been both sides and is now one of them- if you don't take the position someone will and you'll be powerless to help them "

You: " So I become the only person with the power to punish them other than the teachers but instead of just doing what the label says, I use the power I've gained to help rather than hinder "

Sona: " I just assumed you would do that anyway, that's what I like about you- power doesn't affect you. You'll do what you always do with the power to make it happen or without, if you don't have the power to make something happen you'll simply use whatever you can "

You: " To be truthful, if I was forced to become the DC officer, I was going to just use it to help them "

Sona: " See "

You: " You're right; also checkmate "

The room filled with gasps as you moved the last piece and locked Sona's king into checkmate; some of them even rushed over as Sona began to smirk, staring down at the board with the happiest expression you've ever seen on her face.

You: " Your turn, now I've beaten you and told you my secret, let's hear your's "

Sona: " Well it actually now has to do with you winning "

You: " Oh? "

Sona: " In the underworld, my family has tried on multiple occasions to force me into an arranged marriage but they decided it was cruel after a few of them started to show their true colours after thinking my parents couldn't end it- they also saw how much I opposed it so it was done with then and there. My parents still want me to marry however, in return for one day getting married I made the agreement that since a single person was yet to defeat me in chess; the day a man defeats me in chess I shall take him as my husband "

You: " Wait... "

Sona: " Yup but.. since you enrolled in this school, I've had feelings for you I've never felt- the way you handle the people around you and the way you can make anything happen through sheer willpower; you were the ideal man I always dreamt I would meet but I kept to my word hoping one day I would play you in Chess; I realised a while ago though that it would mean dragging an unwilling human into the world of the supernatural and I couldn't ever challenge you. I heard what happened with Rias when you made your response to her rumour spread about you and realised what she had done, I realised you had become a member of the supernatural now and whether that was as a stray or part of Rias' peerage I wasn't going to allow the chance to slip "

You: " There's a huge problem to that "

Sona: "Oh?.. "

You: " You'll be the first one I've told, my memories aren't my own- atleast I'm not sure. I have memories of another life; a life married to someone I held dear to me, a wife. I don't know if these memories are real or if they're faked by something out there trying to use me but I remember her face, her name, her smile, her adorable laugh, the cute way she'd nearly fling herself across the farm when trying to draw water from the pump. She has been lost, stolen from me and placed somewhere in this world. I will not stop my search for her, I will not marry or date another until I know whether or not she is real "

Sona: " I see... Although it hurts to hear, that's just the kind of person you are. If she happens to be fake, feel free to come reconsider the engagement "

You: " I will, I hope my memories haven't been faked but if it is true and the woman I am looking for does not exist; I would be more than Honoured to take The Sona Sitri's hand in marriage "

Sona: " That makes me happy to hear, and about the DC officer position "

You: " Hand me the paperwork "
