Wei Ying felt weightless, yet heavy. Like he was floating but was chained down. He couldn't see but he could feel. He couldn't smell but he could hear. It was a confusing combination but wasn't helpful to figure out where he was. What the fuck is going on?  He wasn't whole, that was the one thing he was sure of. He thinks he remembers his soul shattering before he returned to Cosmia, was that why he felt so weak? If it was so, then he needed to get at least more than half of his soul back before he could return to full awareness. With a plan in mind, he relaxed and allowed himself to drift. The waves will take him anywhere if he gets lucky he might end up finding a few fragments of his soul.

He didn't know when he slipped out of awareness but, it returned to him he heard a few familiar voices.

"Why are you moving so slowly?"

"Do you want to get caught like your Shidi's did?"

"No."

"Good, now pull out the paper money." There was a shuffling noise before the sound of a fire starting rang out in the area.

"Shixiong, why...um."

"Come on, get it out."

"All of my Shixiong's and Shijie's are secretly doing this against the Sect Leader's wishes. And, even you went as far as secretly building a grave and making an ancestral tablet for him. So, I was wondering if he was as great as everyone says he was before the war."

There was a sigh before he heard slow footsteps, the voice slowly getting louder before it sounded like he was right beside him. "Da-Shixiong was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. He had the brightest smile that rivaled the sun and an infectious laugh. He was always willing to take the full brunt of the blame and punishment for any non-serious situation. Even if he was never involved in the situation. Then afterward he would just walk out of the punishment hall and continue as normal."

He suddenly felt the urge to defend himself and say he did more than slack off. How could Second Shidi slander him like this?

"Sounds like he was pretty fun to be around. A little too laid back."

"Haha, no. Despite how laid back and easygoing he was, he was also very strict when it came to our training. He wouldn't allow anyone to slack off and ensured we knew every move so well that we could do it in our sleep. He was strict but he was also patient and observant. He didn't believe that you couldn't succeed because you didn't try enough or just didn't have the skill. He believed one fails because they haven't found the method to their success. Take Senior Suxiao for example. When we first started training as juniors, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't fly on his sword."

"What?! But, He's our fastest flier!"

"Madame Yu was driving herself nuts trying to figure out why he couldn't fly and was about to kick him out of the sect when Da-Shixiong asked to be allowed to train him. And he worked tirelessly for over a week until he found out why he couldn't fly. And now, look at him, soaring through the sky. You know, it was his speed that saved him during the Massacre. So, I think he feels like he owes Da-Shixiong his life because of that. But, I know if he ever found out, he would say, 'Your own strength is what saved you not me.' Forgetting it was him that worked until he could fly without injuring himself and then continued to push him to extend his limits further until he became who he was today."

Ah, he never thought about it like that. Guess you could say he saved his life, well at least that's someone's life he didn't ruin. Also, he wants to stress that it was a very simple mistake that made him unable to fly. He wasn't circulating his spiritual energy through the blade, he just needed him to help learn how to properly circulate it. It's not like he created a whole new teaching method, it's just that no one bothered to look carefully. Wait, is it him or can he hear better than before?
