Chapter Three

Jiang Cheng walked along the riverbank, and everything washed ashore the previous day had already been collected. Walking along was clear and safe, but just in case it happened again, he left A-Ling with Ping Luishui safely on the pier. Hopefully, away from danger, but when A-Ling's involved, heavens know what trouble could head their way.

Yesterday, the disciples along the pier said that there was a burst of spiritual energy before the water started thrashing around like a child throwing a tantrum. He heard about places where locations became sentient due to being constantly surrounded by spiritual energy but he didn't believe them since Cloud Recesses had no living plants or bodies of water. Well, they have a bunch of dead forests surrounding the area as a result of all that Yang energy.

And that couldn't be the case here because, he couldn't sense any spiritual energy, the water felt the same way it did a few days ago. Wait, there was a difference; the water was clearer, and he couldn't sense any resentful energy. It was as if every single water ghost in the river were cleansed overnight because none of them were in the piles of things washed ashore.

Jiang Cheng glared at the river, nothing about this made sense. Just like- He shook his head, wait until night to think about him. He reminded himself as he placed his hand into the water, it didn't feel anything different. He sent a pulse of his qi into the water to see what would happen, only to jerk back. He looked between his hand and the water in shock as Ping LuiShui ran closer, "Are you okay, Jiang-Zongzhu? What happened."

He felt his hand as he glared at the water, "It was nothing. I just got spooked." He knew what he felt. Someone was holding his hand. It felt like-

He growled under his breath as he turned around, taking A-Ling from Ping LuiShui. "Nothing seems out of the ordinary, but don't let anyone into the water until we're sure nothing is hiding on the floor bed." He then stormed back to his office, and he'd come back later.

So, Wei Ying probably shouldn't have overreacted yesterday. Now, the disciples were all crowding the river, investigating what he did. Though, he's never felt clearer since he accidentally tossed all that trash out. And he's not too upset, as he can see how the disciples are all fairing, and as a bonus, he got to see Jin Ling and Jiang Cheng! Jin Ling looks so cute but, he already got his JiuJiu's glare and resting bitch face. Let's hope that his Shushu can bring out more of his mother before it's too late.

Jiang Cheng, looked, ah well, he looked like he's seen better days. Though no one else would notice that he looks a mess because he's good at pretending to be normal. He wanted to comfort him but, forming a physical body was a bit harder than he expected. So, he wasn't able to do anything until Jiang Cheng sent his qi into the water. But, he must have been a little too sudden because Jiang Cheng jumped back as if he had been burned. He's definitely suspicious of him now.

But, seriously, who would have known that it's easier to write a message using water than to force water together? Actually, now that he says it, why did he think that was going to be easy? Water does whatever it wants, it can't be forced into a shape unless it's ice or using a mold.

But, based on how he was able to do it after getting some qi from Jiang Cheng then that means he might need to use spiritual energy to be able to form a physical body. And not what he did at Cloud Recesses, he's not too sure what he did but, he knows what he created was a big ball of water. That's it, just a big ball of water. So, he needs to acquire more spiritual energy...wait no he doesn't.

Just like how female resentful creatures are more dangerous and resentful beings attack during the night, A Waterborne Abyss is so dangerous because water works as a great conductor for resentful energy which is just corrupted yin energy. He remembers the way he used demonic cultivation as a way to strip ghosts of their resentment so they could pass on. Could he just do that? But, he doesn't want to accidentally poison everyone in Lotus Pier because resentful energy at the end of the day –despite being just another form of energy– is corrupted energy –Might there be a form of corrupted yang energy?— so it's not good for the body.
