Yu Ziyuan nearly dropped her whip in shock. She turned to Meihui. "You! Why would you do that?!" She was five seconds from smacking the girl so hard that she'd run back to her immortal master. As she looked away, Meihui pouted with a huff, "You told me too."

"I was joking when I said you should shave Lan Qiren's goatee!" Luo Shihua nearly dropped her sword, "You should have known better, Shijie. Meihui doesn't understand social cues." Meihui stomped her foot, "Why is me shaving his goatee so bad?! He nearly got me, Jiang-zongzhu, and Wei Changze killed!"

"Because he's fucking, Lan-er-gongzi! The second heir! In terms of sect politics, he outranks you!" Luo Shuhui drops her sword stance, "Plus, we're in Cloud Recesses for lectures you weren't invited to. And based on their stupid wall of rules, they don't care why you did something. Just that you did it."

Meihui drops down in an unlady-like manner, "This place is fucking breeding ground of hypocrites. No wonder Shizun refused to marry into such a sect." Yu Ziyuan flicks her practice whip, "Yes, so don't bother trying to make friends with anyone here. They diss out punishments to anyone who breaks the rules as they break them themselves."

"You should be a little quieter when you're shit-talking the sect that lets you attend their lectures." Luo Shihui leaned up, "What right does a servant like you think they have in talking to Shijie like that?!" Wei Changze raised his hands, "I mean nothing by it, and why do you keep calling me that? I'm the Jiang sect's Head Disciple, not a servant or a son of a servant."

Luo Shuhui rolled her eyes, "That's what they all say."

"No, they don't because if they did, they would either have their tongues ripped out or put to death. My father is a blacksmith who makes spiritual blades, for example, yours! So, please stop calling me a servant." They glared at each other as Yu Ziyuan rolled her eyes, "He's right, Luo Shihui. He's the son of a weapons smith, not a servant. His father also qualifies as a Jiang sect elder."

Meihui jumped up, "Changze-xiong!" He hurried to catch her as she jumped on him. "Can you believe they made me kneel in the pouring rain yesterday while Lan Qiren got zero punishment?!"

"That sounds believable. If you want him to be punished so badly, I could have Jiang-Furen notified of what happened. She's so protective of Jiang-gongzi that she'll lose her mind once she finds out he nearly got killed and the one responsible didn't get any punishment." Yu Ziyuan remembered all she knew of the woman, yeah that sounds about right.

Wen Cuifen, also known as Jiang-furen, was the head of a branch of the Wen Clan. She was a terrific healer with a mean streak when provoked. She remembers hearing about a Yao elder whose family disappeared under mysterious circumstances after he spread rumors about Jiang-gongzi being a rapist. Of course, those rumors have already been forgotten due to being easily disproved by the fact he had no females around to assault.

Besides his clan's servants, they would have said something when the rumors came out. Everyone in Lotus Pier firmly denied these claims, so gossipers just had to chalk it up to hearsay.

That's not even the tip of the iceberg of things this woman has done in the name of family. There are rumors that the Wen Clan is pressuring the Jiang Clan into this marriage alliance. Some say the Wens just wanted control in another sect, or she forced it because she fell in love with Jiang-zongzhu.

Honestly, she doesn't care about all these rumors; she only knows of them because of Luo Shuhui. She just loves listening to the latest gossip coming from across the cultivation world. She told her against it because some of the rumors can be made up, like the one about Jiang-gongzi.
