Jordan and Dave had been bestfriends since high school. From the first day they met, their bond was immediate. They clicked over shared interests, long nights of video games, and a mutual understanding of the world around them. Both of their parents are also close-friends.

While Jordan was more reserved, the quieter one, Dave Magbanua was the life of the party. The guy who could charm anyone with a smile, crack a joke, and leave everyone laughing. They balanced each other out perfectly, like two halves of a whole.

But there was one rule they always lived by-one promise that stood between them and everything else.
in,

"We don't steal each other's girl."

Jordan had said one afternoon, as the two of them sat on the roof of their University, watching every student walking from a far.

Dave, always the joker, had laughed it off.

"Yeah, yeah, I remember, I get it. But what if she wants me?"

He'd teased, grinning like he always did when he was about to push someone's buttons.

Jordan had looked at him seriously.

"Don't. We both know how this works."

Dave had held up his hands in mock surrender.

"Okay, okay. No stealing your girl. But if she falls for me, then... well,
I can't help that, right?"

His eyes twinkled with mischief, but Jordan knew he was serious about the promise. It wasn't just about a relationship-it was about respect.

That rule had carried them through the years. They'd both had their share of flings, but never once had they crossed that line. It wasn't even a temptation. Until now.

-----------------

Jordan hadn't been able to deny it. Patricia wasn't just a woman-she was someone he could imagine having by his side forever. Their relationship start from years ago, and Jordan couldn't have been happier.

They were inseparable, and it felt like everything in his life was falling into place. But there was always something in the back of his mind-a voice that whispered that things might not be as perfect as they seemed.

Dave, his best friend, had noticed too. He always noticed everything.

"Hey, you're looking at her like she's your world, Bro."

Dave had elbowed Jordan in the ribs, grinning like he always did.

"Patricia? Yes. she's my world, my everything."

Jordan shifted awkwardly, glancing over at Patricia as she laughed with a group of friends. She looked radiant, happy. And Jordan? He couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. She was his girlfriend. He was the one who got to make her smile like that.

"She's cool, bro. I know she's... different."

Jordan had replied, though the words sounded awkward to his own ears. How could he explain that she wasn't just cool, that she wasn't just different? She was everything to him.

Dave had raised an eyebrow, a sly smile spreading across his face.

"Different? Bro, you're in deep. She's hot, I won't lie. But I know our rule."

Jordan had stiffened. His stomach had tightened as Dave spoke the words he'd always known they'd come to: the rule. The one they'd made in high school, long before relationships were ever on the table.
