Jordan's POV:

The cold air bit at my skin as I pedaled through the dark, deserted road. The only sound was the rhythmic crunch of my tires on gravel and the occasional rustle of leaves in the night. My thoughts, however, were anything but quiet.

"Was my car really missing? Or was Dave playing some twisted game with me?"

The idea gnawed at me, fueling my irritation with every rotation of the pedals. Could he be messing with me? My hands tightened on the handlebars as another thought surfaced, one far worse than the first.

"Was this all just a ploy to get me away from Patricia? To be alone with her?"

The memory of our promise came flooding back-our agreement to never interfere with each other's relationships. No stealing each other's girl. But what if he had already broken that promise?

"That bastard! DAVE!!!"

I muttered under my breath, the words escaping into the cold air.

I glanced at my watch. I'd been riding for 20 minutes, and the distance between me and the house grew with every passing second. But doubt clawed at my gut. Dave knew how important that car was to me. He knew it wasn't just a piece of metal-it was my pride, my accomplishment. And yet, he let it disappear?

"But Patricia? Could I just leave her there with him?"

The thought made me slam on the brakes, my bike screeching to a halt. My breaths came in sharp gasps, not from exhaustion, but from the fire burning in my chest.

"No!"

I whispered to myself, shaking my head.

"No way I'm letting this slide."

I turned the bike around, pedaling furiously back toward the house. The night felt darker now, heavier, as if it was warning me to stay away. But I couldn't. I wouldn't.

By the time I reached the driveway, my legs burned, but the anger inside me burned hotter.

The house was eerily quiet, with only the faint glow of light seeping from the third bedroom-my old bedroom. That's where Dave was staying now.

And that's where Patricia was.

I dropped the bike and crept toward the door, my movements silent as a predator stalking prey. The living room lights were off, as were the ones in the kitchen. The house felt lifeless, but I knew better.

I moved slowly, my footsteps light against the floorboards. The faint sound of muffled voices came from the room, and as I approached, I could make out Patricia's voice.

"I'm going to eat you now, Dave."

She said, her tone soft, almost tender.

The words hit me like a punch to the gut.

I froze, gripping the doorframe to steady myself. My breath hitched, my mind spinning.

"No! This can't be real!"

But it was.

---

Through the narrow crack of the door, I could see them-Patricia and Dave-wrapped in each other's arms. Her lips brushed against his, her body pressed against his as though I didn't even exist.

The fire in my chest roared to life, consuming every ounce of reason I had left.

They were laughing softly, sharing words meant only for lovers-Patricia and I. Words that were supposed to be for me not Dave.
