Dave's POV:
I guess it was easy to see why Jordan was so hooked on Patricia. She had this...magnetism, a way of looking at you that made you feel like the only person in the room. And if I'm being honest, I wasn't exactly immune to it. Yeah, sure, she was my best friend's girl, and yeah, we had one rule, Jordan and I: don't mess around with each other's relationships. Don't steal each other's girls. Simple, right?
Except, it wasn't.
Patricia laughed at one of my dumb. She gave me that sly little smile, and, fvck, it did something to me. Her eyes lingered just a bit too long, and I knew I was crossing a line, but I couldn't stop myself.
Flirting with her was like walking a tightrope between excitement and danger, and I think I liked the thrill.
"So, what's going on with you and Jordan?"
I asked casually, leaning against the wall and trying to keep my voice steady. I knew this was risky territory, but my curiosity got the better of me.
"I don't know.. he's been...different lately. Possessive, even."
She said, her tone light but with an edge I couldn't ignore.
I laughed, trying to keep it breezy.
"Come on, you know Jordan. He's just...devoted. Intense, maybe. But he's harmless."
She looked at me, and there was something in her eyes-uncertainty, maybe, or something darker.
"Yeah, but sometimes, it feels like he's watching every move I make. It's...a lot."
Her vulnerability drew me in even further. I knew I was walking right up to the edge, breaking the one rule Jordan and I had set, but damn, it was tempting. Maybe part of me wanted to test that rule, to see just how serious Jordan was about it. And maybe I just wanted to see if I could win Patricia's attention over him.
I tilted my head, giving her a playful smirk.
"Well, if he's not careful about your heart, someone else might just step in."
She laughed, and I felt a rush of adrenaline.
"Oh, really?"
she teased back, her tone light, but her gaze steady.
"And who would that be?"
I shrugged, trying to play it cool.
"I don't know. Maybe some dashing guy who knows how to make her laugh. Just saying."
For a split second, I saw a flicker of interest in her eyes. But before I could say more, I felt someone watching us. Turning, I saw Jordan across the room, his gaze fixed right on me. He didn't look angry-yet-but there was this intensity in his eyes that sent a chill down my spine.
Jordan walked over, his face calm but his eyes flicking between Patricia and me with a hint of suspicion.
"Hey, what are you two chatting about?"
He asked, voice light but with an edge.
I put on my best casual grin, shrugging.
"Just catching up. You know how it is."
Jordan's smile didn't quite reach his eyes.
"Oh, I know exactly how it is."
Patricia shifted, sensing the tension.
"Jordan, relax. We're just talking."
"Yeah, well.."
He said, his gaze locking onto mine,
