synopsis — —

odie hartford never went by her birth name. it was her mother who gave her name, and that was the name she never wanted to use. she never wanted to be associated with her mother, not after everything she had done to her youngest child. she became a paramedic to spite her mother, to be on the side that helps keep people alive. it was odie's form of rebellion and she became a paramedic at the age of nineteen.

she missed her father endlessly, another victim to her mother's schemes. her brother refused to have any contact with her after their mother was locked up, blaming odie for everything that happened. her family was in shambles, and it felt like she was the only one actually doing something good with her life.

chicago wasn't an easy place to live, but the people she worked with made everything worth it. however, even the craziness of the city couldn't begin to explain how odie would disappear and reappear at random places along a certain time lord's timeline, and how he seemed to know her so damn well.

you know me quite well, and you never call me odette.

well, you don't like being called odette since it was the only thing your mother called you.

exactly! not a lot of people take that into consideration, only my closest friends. what am i to you?
