I hate my life.
Ever since I was a baby, I was alone, utterly alone. I had bounced around in foster care for as long as I can remember, never finding a family that actually wanted me. They owould only take me in for the money bonus, giving me a small room with an air mattress to spend most of my time in.

"Lina! Get down here now!" Evelyns voice brought me back to reality. Evelyn was a short plump woman with eczema across her nose. She has been fostering me for about 1 month, and still has managed to piss me off more than slow walkers. Her daughter, Milly, wasn't any kinder than her. "Your girlfriend is down here!" I rolled my eyes. Whenever Annabeth came over to pick me up for school, Evelyn and Milly would call her my girlfriend, even though I assured her we were both straight. Sadly, the homophobia in their DNA couldn't understand the fact that not everyone they hated, had to be gay.

I rolled out of my air mattress and grudgingly walked down the stairs.
Annabeth was waiting for me by the kitchen table.

"Hey Lina!" She looked relieved to get away from Evelyn was she walked up to me. Annabeth had curly blonde hair and stormy grey eyes. She was easily the most gorgeous person I have ever seen in my short life. We walked back up the stairs and into my room.

"I've got to get ready... It'll take a few minutes." I told her.

She smiled and sat down on my mattress.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you! Evan texted me yesterday, he said he was gonna ask you out today." I said excitedly.

Annabeth looked at me with a worried expression. "Lina, I told you not to use your phone! And plus, I have a boyfriend. Also, Evan is weird." She made a disgusted face, as if reminising about all the weird things Evan has done.

I rolled my eyes, but it was true. I could never actually  look Evan in his eyes, I just couldn't make myself. "You need to introduce me to your boyfriend! What's his name again... Percy!"

"I will... soon."

I quickly got changed into a white tank top and black cargo pants. I brushed my hair and put on my makeup. "Ok, nearly ready to go." I grabbed my ring and slipped it onto my finger. My case worker, Rick, had given it to me of behalf on my father. Rick had said that my father wanted to give it to me himself, but he couldn't. It was a beautiful bronze band with a ruby in the center.

"Ok... Lets go." Annabeth looked at my ring as if she was studying it. "Where did you get that from?" She asked.

"Uhm, present from my dad. Long story." I didn't really want to talk about it, so I stopped there.

We walked down the stairs, and just as we were walking out the door, an annoying voice screeched behind us.

"Oi! Where are you going?" I whipped around to see Milly standing 5 feet away.

"Uh- to school." I said obviously.

"I want a ride." She declared.

"No. Its Annabeth's car. Not yours."

Milly looked me up and down and then she opened her mouth.

"MOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!"

Evelyn immediately ran up beside Milly, she glared daggers at me before deciding, "you will give her a ride to school."

Annabeth and I seemed to have the same idea.

We bolted.

I could hear Evelyn and Milly's screams as we drove off.
Just for fun, I rolled down the window and stuck my middle finger up.

I had a feeling I wouldn't see Evelyn or Milly for a long time.

The whole drive to school consisted of laughing, giggling, and more laughing. As Annabeth parked the car, she said, "I really need to talk to you about something."

"Yeah, what is it?" I asked.

Before she could answer, someone called from in front of the car.

"Annabeth!" Evan was standing 10 feet away with a grin plastered across his face.

Annabeth and I made eye contact, and I knew we were thinking the same thing.

Oh shit.

"Evan!" I called as I got out of the car. "She's got a boyfriend! So go and jerk off to somebody else!"
Now some of you may think that what I said was rude, and that I broke his heart. But what you don't know about Evan, is that he is a horrible person. He bullies everyone and everything. So, I will do what ever I can to hurt his feelings.

Evans face dropped; he looked around frantically to see if anyone witnessed the incident.

"Lina! Your just mad that Josh won't fuck you!"
That made me loose it. Josh was a boy in my science class. He had so obviously had a crush on me, so one night while I was drunk, I confessed my feeling back to him. He rejected me and told everyone what had happened.

"Say that again and I swear-" I started walking up to him but he cut me off.

"Say what again?" As he spoke, something unexpected happened. Evan's voice grew unnaturally deep, his face changed shape.

"What the fuck?" I muttered.

I swear I'm going delusional because I just can't understand what I'm seeing.

Evan had only one eye.

"Cyclops!" Annabeth cried. She grabbed my wrist and dragged me back towards the car.

"Demigods..." Evan grumbled hungrily.

"What is going on?!" I pleaded.

"No time to explain! Get in the car!" We were still at least 10 metres away from the car when Evan boomed

"Get back here!" Evan seemed to grow in size, instead of being 5'11, he was now atleast 7 foot.
Evan lumbered towards us, I glanced at Annabeth. All of a sudden, she was holding a bronze dagger.

"Where the fuck did you get that?!" I cried.

As Evan ran forward, Annabeth jabbed with her knife. She barely missed Evan's thigh, but it did throw him off guard.

"Get in the car!" Annabeth demanded as she threw the car keys to me.

"I swear if this is some April fools' shit!" I jumped into the driver's seat and turned the key. "Get in!"

Annabeth ran over and hopped into the passenger's seat.

"Go! Go! Go!"
