Athena ran home. Soon shutting the door, surprised about the whole situation. As put her stuff down before sitting in her chair. As she sat she heard a knock on her door.
She sighed in annoyance a bit before getting up and opening the door, finding Arrow there. "Hey Athena! Are you ready to go on the morning run?" Arrow spoke about nervously, Athena was surprised, completely forgetting. "Oh! Uh yes, yes I am." Athena said as she stepped outside. She wasn't ready, but didn't want to embarrass herself or make Arrow feel bad. "Great. Let go then." Arrow spoke with more excitement, as he gently grabbed Athena's arm and pulled her outside more, taking her to the centre of the village to start the run.
*an hour later*
Athena's POV
Arrow and I got back to the centre of the village. We had a great run. Arrow and I ran around the village before making our way to the beach then just infront of the forest, then to the arena and back to the centre of the village. As we ran we had a great chat, talking about patrol and the jobs we do.
When we finished I headed back home, as I was walking I saw Fishlegs holding a Book. "Hey Fishlegs. What's that you got?" I asked him as he turned to me before showing me the book smiling. "Hey Athena! This is the book of Dragons. I've read it like, seven time. There's this water dragon that sprays boiling water at your face. And- and this other one that-"
I laughed nervously before speaking. "Yea, yea that's great. Uh can I borrow the book? You know, it seems interesting to read." Fishlegs smiled before handing me the book. "Sure! Be careful. It's gonna rain soon." I nodded at him, noticing the dark clouds. I thanked fishlegs before quickly walking home. When I got home the rain had begun pouring. I walked over to my desk and lite the candle, before sitting down and being to read.
"Dragon classifications. Strike class. Fear class. Mystery class." I read out loud to myself before turning the page.
"Thunderdrum. This reclusive dragon inhabits sea caves and dark tide pools. Thunderdrums can produce a concussive sound that can kill a man at close range. Extremely dangerous! Kill on sight!"
My eyes drift to a disturbing illustration of decapitated Viking before flipping the page.
"Timberjack. This gigantic creature has razor sharp wings that can slice through full grown trees... Extremely dangerous! Kill on sight!"
The illustration seems to take on a life on their own, shifting in the candlelight.
"Scauldron. Sprays scalding water at its victim. Extremely dangerous!"
The storm outside rages against the shuttered windows.
"Changewing. Even newly hatched dragons can spray acid. Kill on sight."
She flips through the pages. A blur of dragons.
"Gronkle. Zippleback. The skrill. Bone knapper. Whispering death. Burns its victims. Buries its victims. Chokes its victims. Turns its victims inside-out. Extremely dangerous. Extremely dangerous. Kill on sight. Kill on sight. Kill on sight."I soon landed on the page were the night fury.
"Night fury. Speed unknown. Size unknown. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself. Never engage this dragon. Your own chances, hide and pray it doesn't find you."
I stared at the page. Seeing no image but my mind raced back to where I came in counter with the night fury, soon remembering Hiccup. I had so many questions.
I looked towards the window. Soon seeing the rain had calmed down. I got up soon going to put the book back in the chiefs house. Something was telling me that something was wrong. But I couldn't figure out why.
*later. At night.*
Athena was on patrol. The twins, being twins, ran off to Thor knows where, which meant Athena had to patrol around the village alone. She walked around in the centre of the village, seeing a pretty empty place as buildings were dark as if Vikings were sleeping in for the night. Athena decided to stand in the clearing near the chiefs house, facing the village, everything was great, but Athena couldn't help but feel like she was being watched.
She looked around, seeing no one, and it only creeped her out more. No sound, no person, nothing. The feeling didn't go away. So Athena decided to walk back around in the village. As Athena walked she heard some footsteps behind her. When she turned, no one was there.
Athena kept walking but soon tripped and fell into a pit. Soon Ruffnut and Tuffnut jumped out. "Loki!" They shouted at the same time. Athena only sighed in relief, "oh Thor, it's only you two. I thought someone was stalking me." The twins laughed a bit. "What do you mean? We've been here the whole time." Ruffnut spoke soon her brother did after her, "Yea, we were hoping to Loki Snotlout but you fell into the pit instead."
Athena looked up at them and laughed a bit, not believing them. "Oh ha ha, you're not gonna Loki me again."
The twins looked at eachother when she said that soon looking at her, "Athena, we are serious." Tuffnut spoke, soon Ruffnut did, "Yea, we promise."
Athena saw their serious face. Which made apart of her believe them. After some time she got out of the pit. "Seriously?" Athena said, looking at the twins, she saw the two nod at her.
A part of her didn't want to believe them, wanting to think they were trying to prank her again. But she was believing they were telling the truth judging by their serious looks. "Uh right..." Athena spoke before walking off, she headed off and decided to walk home.
She walked home in the dark, leaving the twins to try and prank Snotlout. When she finally got home, she noticed the place looked a lot more darker then usual, the fireplace wasn't lit and it looked like someone purposely put the fire out.
Athena walked cautiously, pulling out her dagger just in case. She found a candle and put it up, soon slowly walking around the house, trying to find someone, but the candle wasn't helping much. Athena looked around the bottom floor soon heading to the second floor, but she wasn't aware of someone standing right behind her.
"You're gonna need a better weapon then that I'm afraid." Hiccups voice rang through the air, sending a shiver down her spine as she slowly turned, soon finding Hiccup and the Night fury. Hiccup pulled out his fire sword and activated its, letting the fire light up the room more. Athena was scared more, and Hiccup noticed this as he smirked more "Nice to meet you again, Athena."
