8 months later (End of June 2001)
Y/n POV
It's been 8 months since our first trip to the lake. We've been there several times, including for MJ's birthday. About a month after that first trip we became a couple, so now Maria is my girlfriend.
I'm still patrolling the city as Spider-Man, and James helps me out at headquarters. Recently our favorite football club won the Champions League, beating Valencia in the final, and we watched the match together at my place. His mom agreed to let him come over sometimes.
As for my friends, I currently don't have any. After our fight, Michał and Kacper chose to side with Flash. I don't mind, though, because I haven't had time to meet up with them anyway. The three of them sometimes tease me and MJ, but it's no big deal, and there haven't been any more fights between us.
A few days after the warehouse incident, I asked myself what more I could want. I didn't expect anything extra, but I got more than I imagined. Right now, my life feels like a fairy tale.
Currently, I'm at the end-of-year ceremony with MJ. All the students dressed formally are now sitting on the school field. The principal has given a few speeches and we've witnessed some lackluster performances. They handed out certificates to the best students but strangely, MJ and I haven't received ours yet.
We are the only ones standing on the side instead of sitting. As the school photographer, I had to take pictures, and the principal agreed that MJ could help me. However, she's not really assisting; instead, she keeps distracting me.
"Do you think they forgot about us?" she asked as the last performance ended.
"I don't think so. They'll probably hand them out later in the classrooms," I replied, shaking my head.
The principal walked back to the podium.
"I thought it was over," MJ said, surprised.
"Me too," I replied snapping another picture.
"And now, as the last part of the ceremony, I would like to award the two best students of our high school," the principal announced.
MJ and I immediately exchanged glances.
"I invite the student with the second-best grade point average to the stage - Maria Jane Watson!" the principal called.
My girlfriend looked at me. "I'll be waiting for you up there," she said before heading to the principal.
The principal handed her a diploma and shook her hand. I captured a few photos of the moment. Afterward, the principal returned to the microphone. "Last up, I invite the student with the highest grade point average this year. Our school photographer and you won't hide behind that camera of yours," she said, looking straight at me. I smiled slightly. "I invite you to join us on stage - Y/n Parker!" she announced.
I quickly walked towards her and MJ. Most of the students started clapping, while others, including Flash and my former friends, booed me.
I made my way to the stage where the principal handed me my diploma. "Congratulations Y/n," she said shaking my hand.
I nodded in thanks.
"Stand next to Maria; I'll take a picture of the two of you." I handed the camera to the principal and then walked over to MJ. Instead of just standing next to her, I kissed her. After a moment, we pulled away.
"You know this picture is going to be in the school gallery," MJ said.
"So? Let them know that the most beautiful girl in school is mine," I replied, smiling at her.
