As the evening settled and the soft glow of the bedside lamp filled the room, Tan lay down on the bed, stretching out after a long day. Fang, dressed in comfortable sleepwear, climbed in beside him, settling against the pillows. Tan turned his head to Fang, smiling softly as he felt the warmth of his presence.
Tan: "Finally, some rest. Today felt so long, babe."
Fang leaned back, his hands resting gently on his slightly rounded belly. He glanced at Tan, his expression playful but filled with emotion.
Fang: "Tan, there's something I’ve been meaning to tell you."
Tan blinked, curious. He shifted closer, propping himself up on one elbow.
Tan: "What is it, love? You look like you’re about to drop a bomb on me."
Fang chuckled softly, his eyes shimmering with excitement.
Fang: "At the check-up earlier, the doctor told me something... about the baby."
Tan’s eyes widened slightly as he sat up straighter.
Tan:."Wait, what? What did they say? Is everything okay?"
Fang nodded quickly, placing a hand on Tan’s arm to reassure him.
Fang: "Everything’s perfect. But... we know the gender now."
Tan froze for a moment, his heart skipping a beat. Tan: "The gender?!" He blinked, his excitement bubbling over. Tan: "Why didn’t you tell me earlier, babe?! What is it? Tell me, tell me, tell me!"
Fang laughed at Tan’s childlike enthusiasm. He took a deep breath, his smile growing wider. Fang: "Tan... we’re having a baby boy."
For a moment, Tan stared at Fang, the words sinking in. And then, without warning, he lunged forward, pulling Fang into the tightest hug he could muster without hurting him.
Tan (excitedly): "A boy?! We’re having a boy! Oh my God, Fang, this is amazing!"
Fang laughed, his arms wrapping around Tan’s back as he leaned into the embrace. Fang: "I knew you’d be happy, babe. I wanted to tell you in the right moment."
Tan (pulling back slightly, his eyes bright): "Happy? I’m beyond happy, love. I’m over the moon! We’re going to have a little guy running around, calling me dad... I can’t even—"
He trailed off, his voice catching slightly as he was overcome with emotion. Fang cupped Tan’s face, his own eyes glistening.
Fang:."You’re going to be an amazing dad, Tan."Tan leaned into Fang’s touch, pressing a kiss to his palm. Tan: "And you’re going to be the best mom... or papa-mom. Whatever you want to be called. Our boy’s going to be so lucky to have you."
They stayed like that for a moment, lost in each other’s eyes, before Tan’s excitement got the better of him again. He grinned widely, pulling Fang close once more. Tan: "I’m going to spoil him so much. But first, I’m going to spoil you, babe. You’ve been through so much to bring him into this world. I can’t even express how grateful I am."
Fang (teasing): "Good. I expect extra snacks and foot massages from now on, baby."
Tan (laughing): "Anything you want, love. Anything for you and our little boy."
As they settled back into bed, Tan’s hand rested gently on Fang’s belly, his thumb moving in slow, soothing circles. He couldn’t stop smiling, his heart feeling fuller than it ever had. Fang leaned against him, resting his head on Tan’s chest as they drifted off to sleep, dreaming of the future they would soon share with their baby boy.
