Lights slips through the blinds and awakes me so I try to sleep under the covers for just a little more rest. However, my mind refuses to let me sleep with its many thoughts. I roll out of bed, groaning in distaste of the lack of sleep, and go to the bathroom.

There, I wash my face and moisturise before pulling my hair into a ponytail after brushing it. I apply some concealer, blush, brow gel and mascara since I don't really like using foundations.

I then go to my room and throw on my dungarees, a random top underneath and some striped socks. I roll the bottoms of my dungarees up and put my vans on, and also grab my small backpack with my phone.

Leaving my apartment and the building, I spot the lilac Beetle and pick up my pace, a smile reaching my lips. I unlock it and jump in, the used leather seats accustomed to my body. I hook my phone up to AUX and immediately call Astraea, knowing that she has roughly a couple hours 'till her work starts.

"Hey honey!" She says, her voice cheery.

"Hi! Thanks for telling the guys to bring my car to the right place."

"No problem. They were a little adamant about it coming late but I got them back on track." I laugh at that, the idea of her scolding some guys of forty is a funny thought.

"I gotta go, honey. I'm not even out of bed yet." She says, her voice muffled from, what I assume to be the bed sheets as she gets out.

"See you!" I say, hanging up and quickly putting some music on as I follow the street directions to melrose. I finally do and park my car a couple blocks back, the sun shining in the clear, blue sky.

I gather my things and lock the car, the keys going into my pocket straight after whilst I walk down the sidewalk. When I get to the street, I start searching for a coffee shop. I find one almost immediately and practically dive in with my stomach grumbling.

I quickly order a mocha and a croissant before taking a seat in an armchair by the large windows that outlook the street. A guy comes over with my order and I say a quiet thank you as I take it from his hands.

"You're welcome." He smiles and leaves me to eat, which I appreciate since I'm no talker with strangers.

I eat my croissant before cradling my mug in between both hands whilst I continue to watch people pass the coffee shop. People watching is a fun thing to do; you can pick up ideas for clothes, hair makeup and it's kinda fun to image where they're walking to.

After a few more sips, I put my mug back down and plug my earphones into my phone, unlocking it and opening up Spotify. I begin listening to my playlist and carry on with observing Melrose and the bustle of people here.

A couple of people come inside the shop as more and more people gather outside in the streets. I assume it's because of the time - 11-ish. The bell on the door chimes again as I set my finished mocha on the coffee table.

I play with the other earphone bud as I open up my phone and scroll through Twitter, liking a couple that Astraea tweeted. After I close the app, I look to my right and make immediate eye contact with Taylor.

Oh shit, I think, my cheeks beginning to warm just after he smirks at me. I quickly turn my head away and try to calm myself, telling myself that he'll just leave me alone.

"Hey, can I sit here?"

I shift in my seat and nod, my mind screaming at him for sitting here. I lean forward to push my empty mug and plate to the side so he can place his mug of coffee down.

"It's Wednesday, right?"

"Yep. You're Taylor, right?" I mimic, cocking my head in a teasing manner. He chuckles a little as he rests his arm on the back of the couch.

"I deserved that one." He says, yawning afterwards, and I do too. I lean back and make my self comfortable with my leg tucked underneath myself and my cheek resting on the back of the armchair.

"Tired?" He asks, a smirk of amusement on his lips. I nod, twisting the ring on my finger.

"Yeah, didn't have a good sleep. You seem to be up and early."

"I've got a band meeting, otherwise I would still be in bed."

"Touché." I say, smiling a little. He cracks a smile, the action making me feel a little proud that I amuse him. "It does seem like a lot of work being in a band."

He hums, picking up his coffee and taking a sip. Running his hand through his curls, he groans with his eyes closed. I snigger, causing him to open his eyes and glare at me, so I stop but a smirk remains on my lips.

"What? It wasn't that funny."

"It was to me, anyways." I say, a little awkward after realising that he's right. I clear my throat, looking out of the window behind him to avoid his eyes.

"So, how long have you been here for? A year?" He asks. I shake my head, still a little on edge with his presence.

"I came here yesterday." His eyes widen and I nod to confirm. "I haven't done anything at all except from come here today."

"And go shopping yesterday." He adds. I agree with him and relax a little, becoming a bit more comfortable with us talking. I think that it's a little awkward and quiet at first but now I feel more like myself when I talk to him.

Taylor glances at his watch and sighs, which I take as a sign he's going to go. Whilst he finishes his cup of coffee, I stand and put my backpack on. He, too, straightens up and fixes his brown shirt that's on top of a black tee.

"Sorry for ending the conversation. Can I get your number so we can hang out?"

His question catches me off guard; I freeze for a second before squinting my eyes a little. I ask, hesitantly, "Really?"

"Yes, really. Well, if it's okay with you."

"Okay." I say, pulling out my phone from my back pocket. I unlock it and hand it to him and I take his; I put in my number and add my name, leaving it without any emojis in case he hates that.

I hand it back to him and I see that his name in my contacts is T Tay, so naturally, I tease him.

"Nicknames, huh?"

He just raises an eyebrow and looks at my name, a small smile tugging at the the edges of his lips. "At least I'm not boring with the name choice. Anyways, I'll text you later." He says, slipping his phone into his back pocket.

"Cool."

I walk with him to the door, thanking him as he opens it for me. I slow to a snail's pace as I wait for him to join me.

"When are you free?"

"All day." I cringe at that and sigh, "I sound so lonely."

"Clearly you're not since we just agreed to meeting up today. Look, I'll text you so that you feel like you have a friend."

I scoff, narrowing my eyes at him with my arms crossed. "I'll have you know I do have other friends...but they're just not here."

"Okay," He starts, bringing his hands up in defence. "Can't take a little heat is all I'm gonna say to you."

"Bye Taylor." I say, faking a boring tone, and walk backwards as I wave to him. He chuckles, shaking his head, and waves goodbye. I turn round and walk down the street, having some knowledge of vintage shops here so I go into the first one I see.
