"He just texted me that there was a little traffic so he's gonna be late."

My head jerks upwards at the news, my lips falling into a scowl, and nod. She gives a small, reassuring smile before going to entertain Alf who's panting patiently in the kitchen. Sighing, I stand from my spot on the couch to walk over to the window overlooking her large, luscious lawn. Marie Antoinette - the orange T-Rex - stands proudly by the pond at the far right side of the backyard.

Hayley bought me tickets as soon as the band had returned from their tour round the states, whilst taking into account me and my arrangements for apartment-hunting in La. Secretly, Hayley and I have been also finalising some apartment tours for a few places here, in Nashville. I decided to keep it between us two as I didn't want Taylor interfering, especially what happened that night.

Oh, fuck, tonight is gonna filled with him offering me a place at his. We haven't really talked since then, only things about the details about the dates of my flight and where I am staying, let alone anything about the future of our...friendship? Even worse, Hayley pulled everything from me about that night with Taylor and is bound to ask questions.

I am truly fucked.

I am torn from the storm of thoughts in my head at the shout of Hayley about someone at the door. Darting out of the living room, I yank the front door open with so much force I swear the hinged loosened, to find Taylor before me. I mean, who else was I expecting? A delivery man at eight in the evening?

"Are you going to let me in or just stare at me?"

I immediately glare at him but reluctantly step away from the door, no matter how much I wanted to shut it on him. Don't get me wrong, I've missed him but not his tendencies of being an egotistical dick at times. Before I can speak my mind, I'm engulfed in his strong arms, my cheeks pressed against his chest as he snuggles his head in the crook of my neck.

"Hey," I chuckle softly, "I missed you, too."

"It's been shit without you." He whines against my neck. I roll my eyes at him after Hayley enters, who covers her mouth to muffle her laughter. Taylor pulls away to throw a harsh dagger-like look at Hayley, annoyed.

"Taylor, I don't believe in love, and I won't for a while, so try and tone it down."

Sighing sadly, I detach my body from Taylor's and I pull Hayley into a hug. Whilst I know she was exercising the morbid side to her humour, I couldn't help but want to lighten her mood instantly. As soon as I heard about her divorce, I called her on FaceTime in the summer despite us not talking in a while. We cried, talked, laughed, for what seemed like hours; I truly felt appreciated and like I had really reinforced our relationship.

"I don't love that!" He shouts from behind us as we go into the living room. We both burst into laughter but I quickly cover it with an upset façade that warrants  another joke thrown my way. I roll my eyes as I sit on the couch.

"I'm getting us drinks. Anything in particular?" Hayley asks, face turned towards us at the doorway. Taylor and I shake our heads. She nods, before slyly grinning. "I'll be a while. Wednesday, tell him about your plans to move here."

"You fuck!"

"What?"

I wince when he grabs my shoulder tightly with brows shot upwards and eyes wide. I awkwardly smile. How should I tell him? Be straightforward, it's easy. I almost want to scream at my brain that it's easier said than done.

"Uh, yeah. I came here to also look at places with Hayley in Nashville."

Taylor's face lights up as a grin reveals his perfect teeth, all of this causing me, too, to smile, before grasping my chin with his thumb and forefinger. A soft shiver runs down my spine at the action, especially when he strokes me gently. He leans in closer and I run my tongue across my bottom lip; his eyes follow my tongue and darken.
