I fiddle with the edge of the blanket as I wait for Wednesday to get ready. I'm about to check on her when she enters the living room. I stand up and smile at her, my feet walking on their own accord.

"You look really good." I say.

She half-heartedly smiles and puts her converse on. My eyes graze the length of her legs and the curve of her body as she leans down. I flick my eyes to the red cardigan, hanging off of her shoulders in an effortless fashion, as a distraction from her body.

I pull my denim jacket on and get my car keys out, ready for when we get to it. Wednesday looks at where the sound came from and rolls her eyes.

"Showing off your car again."

"What? It's really nice and spacious." I retort, opening the door with my free hand. She rolls the end of her cardigan sleeves and shrugs, her shoulder brushing my arm as she walks out.

"Mine is nice too." She locks the door and turns to me with a pout on her face. I lead us down the steps and slide my hand down the railing.

"Yeah." I begin. "It is, but mine is a classic."

She grumbles a 'whatever' and steps out into the warm evening air. I unlock my car with a click of my keys and open the passenger door for her to get in. She smiles at me and slides effortlessly on to the black leather seats. I get in my side and start the engine, leaving it to warm up as I close my door and start up the heating.

"Can I hook my phone up?" I hum and she syncs the radio up with Bluetooth. A simple guitar riff fills the space and then a males voice follows. The soft tune builds up and I find myself tapping my fingers on the steering wheel.

Wednesday softly sings the lyrics whilst she traces something on the window with her orange fingernail. I flick my eyes to the road but I steal glances of her through the corner of my eye.

I finally pull up outside of Hayley's, so I get out and walk slowly towards the white picket fence. Wednesday catches up to me and teases me when she says, "Where has all the chivalry gone, Mr York?"

"You told me off last time, Miss Eden, so I've given up." She huffs before bouncing up the steps and knocking on the door. She plays with her bottom lip out of nervousness and I take her hand in my own, putting her hand down.

"Wednesday!" Hayley squeals. They both pull each other into a hug. I move closer to Wednesday and wave at Hayley. She winks then ushers us both into the warm home. Chad calls out a 'hi' as he carries drinks into the living room and I smile back.

Hayley walks side by side with Wednesday, the two of them talking. I hear Wednesday apologise, Hayley acing her off, but that entire conversation is one that I don't understand. Instead of asking, I hang back.

Hayley joins a conversation with Chad so Wednesday comes to my side. She slips her hand into the back pocket of my skinny jeans and leans her head on my arm. Her hand is cold against me and I shiver.

"What are you doing?"

She looks up, eyes wide, and pulls her hands away. "I just thought it would be more comfortable. I didn't think about it, sorry."

"It's fine. I liked it." I say, taking her hand and moving it from her side. She puts her hand back in my pocket and I lightly put my hand on her waist. I guide her from the living room and out of the door to the garden.
