Michael POVI stand in the middle of the court room, and I feel the beating gaze of the councilmen in front of me. I look to my hands to see them shake, I put them behind my back to calm them. I just need to relax, just for an hour.
Then I look up to see my father eyes directly at me. It is void from any emotion. He has to be unbiased because it is for the good of the community.
I keep a blank expression, and then I hear my father booming voice fill the court room. "Micheal Chooli Gonzalez-Sánchez, you are summon today because of the corpse that was discovered hanging from Harper's store. Since you are our sheriff in the community you were responsible of situation at hand. From witness testimony, they said in quote "He was a f*cking *sshole that threatened people jail time if they didn't leave the scene." So Michael we would like to hear your recollection of the situation, and why you did not inform the council as soon as you heard confirmation of a dead body."
Father let go of the paper in front of me and look to me. His piercing gaze would scare anyone, but I look forward not shaking from it.
I look to Alberto a bit and his eyes look to me in knowing, I look away and went back to my father. Just stick to the plan. "Yesterday morning to the night I stayed in the office dealing with conflicts and complaints from people back to back. Because we all know this week is full moon week, and people's urges to do things are all time high. So after dealing with so many conflicts and issues, I was tired after work. So I decided to head home, when I did I hear a knock on my door. I opened it to see a woman shaking and cry, saying that she saw a body hanging at a store. She led me to the way and I saw how crowded people surrounding the body.
It being a literal, dead body hanging so I scream at the crowd, threatening jail time if they didn't leave. They left of course and I taped up the scene. After I examine it, I bring the body to Dr. Flores so she could examine even further. And why I didn't inform the council about the body early is because of the time and events that came up." Father open his mouth but another councilman speak first.
"So you were aware enough to hand over the body to Dr. Flores but not inform us? You must take us as fools." Councilman Santiago he inquires.
"Santiago is correct, if he had all the time in the world to do an investigation why would he not come to us about this serious issue." Another jump in.
This leads to the whole room talking to each other. The comments and jab at my character was prevalent. My gaze reach to every single one of them, but my father's eyes were sending daggers to me.
F*ck is he that angry, I take my gaze from him and look to the rest of the council. Their faces were fill with judgement. The heat of their gaze were like bouncing around the room, it cause the room to be fill with warmth.
The yelling and shouting of them cause emotions to pour. The more it continues the more overwhelm I feel. God I hated having this sense, I look down at the ground to distract myself with something.
I can't deal with all these emotions in the air, I count the number of still there on the desk, I count the chair roles, and I even count my fingers.
"Everyone, silence." Father said it in a deep and stern manner. It wasn't the kind that he does to silence the room, this one was different. It sounded cold.
I look up, and his eyes were burning daggers at me. The feeling feels so strong and vitriolic, but I continue my stares at him not wanting to shake under his gaze.
"Michael, get off the stand and some to my chambers. This meeting is adjourned." The tone of voice was not one of anger, but one of calmness. Not the peaceful kind of it, something much serious with underlying it.
