Part of me was happy that Lesly and BB were unsuspecting of Dani, another part was suspicious. I was torn in all these different directions. With Antonia's family breathing down my neck, the cops, and now Dakota's parents, it was like the walls were closing in.

I could feel it all about to fall apart. Our story, our life that we built together, I could hear the cracks forming, feel the walls giving. I knew it was only a matter of time before something gave. Who would figure it out first? My friends? The cops? The parents? Did they already know? Were they watching me? What did they know?

If Dakota's parents did have a P.I. on me at all times, there was no way they didn't know. They definitely knew. Would they tell on me? Would they confront me again? Was I in danger?

The Parents of the Killer

"They know!" Dakota paced back and forth in front of me.

We finally made it back home.

I keep glancing out the window, seeing if any cars are stationed on my street, watching me.

"We don't know that," I close the curtain and turn to Dakota.

"Yeah, we kind of do. They are stalking us!"

"Calm down." I walk over to her.

"It's over, I knew this disguise was stupid. Ugh!"

"Hey," I grab her hands in my own and force her to face me.

She gives me a helpless and desperate look.

"If you want to ditch Dani we can, we can do another disguise or—"

"It doesn't matter Melony! They know! They will know that any random girl you start dating will be me."

I sigh and look down.

"We have to run," Dakota says firmly.

"What if I talk to them," I look up again.

"No!"

"I have to! How else are we gonna find out what they know? I have to, we might be overreacting. What if we run and it turns out they didn't know anything but us running gives us away?"

She jerks away from me, fuming. I watch her fist shake in rage as she struggles to contain her anger.

"Let me talk to them." I plead.

"He already hurt you, if he touches you again..." she runs her hands down her face.

"Dakota," I rub her back.

"If he touches you again, I'll kill him." She turns to me and looks me in the eyes, telling me how serious she is.

"No, no more killing. We are trying to keep you out of prison, remember?"

"I'll kill him, I'll rip him apart if he hurts you," she sneers.

I sigh and run my hands through her hair, trying to calm her down.

"Just give me a chance. I'll talk to them. After that, we can go from there. If we have to run, we'll run." I assure her.

"Promise?"

"Promise," I kiss her.

She rests her forehead against my own.

"Just... let me get this sorted. I want you to hide in the attic until I come back."

"Okay," she relents.

"I'm not going anywhere without you, promise." I interlock our fingers.

"Check in every hour, promise."
