The fading sun cast long shadows across Magnolia as Laxus made his way home, the vibrant hues of sunset blending into the encroaching darkness. The streets were quieter now, with fewer people out, and his thoughts wandered as he replayed the events of the day at the guild. As he turned down a side street, he spotted a familiar figure ahead.

It was you.

You were walking purposefully, your steps carrying you toward the outskirts of the city. Laxus called out to you, but you didn’t seem to hear, your focus fixed on your destination. Curious—and unable to ignore the tug of intrigue—he decided to follow at a distance.

You weaved through the quieter streets and eventually ventured into a more secluded area, the city’s noise fading behind you. The path led uphill, and Laxus realized this wasn’t a random walk. By the time you stopped, it was dark, and the stars had begun to dot the night sky. You sat on a large rock overlooking the city, the lights below twinkling like a reflection of the heavens above.

Laxus stepped closer, his arms crossed. “What are you doing out here?”

Startled, you turned to see him, but your expression softened quickly. “I like starry, cold nights,” you said simply, returning your gaze to the sky.

Without hesitation, he sat beside you, his eyes studying your face as you stared upward. He couldn’t help but wonder why you sought solitude like this.

“You often follow strange women in the night?” you asked with a teasing laugh, breaking the silence.

“Only you,” he replied, his voice low but with a hint of amusement.

“I feel honored,” you said, grinning before tilting your head back to the stars. “The stars are beautiful tonight.”

He glanced at the sky briefly before looking back at you. “Yeah... they are.” His gaze lingered on you, a flicker of something unspoken crossing his features. “You’re a weird one, you know that?”

“I know,” you replied, your tone light. “I like that.”

You smiled, and he found himself staring longer than he intended. Something about your presence was disarming, and it unsettled him in a way he wasn’t used to.

A sudden shiver ran through you, and Laxus noticed immediately. Without a word, he shrugged off his coat and held it out to you.

“You’re cold,” he said. “Take it.”

“I’m fine,” you protested, shaking your head.

He frowned. “Stop being stubborn.”

“I have a better idea,” you said, shifting slightly. Before he could ask what you meant, you moved to sit between his legs, pulling his coat around both of you. His arms hung awkwardly at his sides as you leaned back against him.

“Problem solved,” you remarked, your tone matter-of-fact.

Laxus blinked, momentarily stunned. He wasn’t used to this kind of closeness, and the heat rushing to his face caught him off guard. Slowly, he relaxed, letting his arms rest loosely around you.

The two of you sat there in silence, the city’s lights stretching below and the stars shimmering above. You felt warm against him, and though the quiet was awkward, it wasn’t unbearable. His mind wandered to the kiss you’d given him before he left for his journey, and a realization began to settle in. He could no longer ignore the possibility of your feelings for him.

But what was he supposed to do with that? He wasn’t good with this kind of thing—emotions, relationships. It was all too... complicated.

After what felt like an hour, the chill in the air became too much, even with the shared warmth of his coat.

“It’s getting late,” Laxus said, his voice cutting through the quiet. “You’ll freeze out here.”

You shifted, finally pulling away slightly. “Yeah, you’re right.”

“My place is closer,” he offered, standing and holding out a hand to help you up. “You can warm up there before heading home.”

You hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “Alright.”

The walk back to his house was quiet, your footsteps echoing softly against the empty streets. Both of you were lost in your thoughts, the closeness from earlier lingering in the air. Despite the silence, it wasn’t uncomfortable—just heavy with everything left unsaid.
