The guild hall buzzed with its usual energy as you and Laxus stepped through the doors. Almost immediately, conversations quieted, and eyes turned toward the two of you. The air was thick with unspoken curiosity, but no one said anything outright. It was rare for Laxus to arrive with someone, let alone with you.

Standing by the entrance was Team Natsu, and they wasted no time addressing the situation.

“Oi, you two came together? What’s that about?” Natsu grinned, leaning closer with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

You greeted them with a neutral expression, your tone flat and devoid of emotion. “It’s not a big deal.”

Erza crossed her arms, her gaze sharp but teasing. “It’s unusual, though. You two seem... close.”

Before you could respond, Natsu’s attention veered wildly. “Hey! Fight me instead!” he exclaimed, pointing at you with an exaggerated gesture.

You raised an unimpressed eyebrow. “No.”

Disappointed but undeterred, he turned on Gray, who rolled his eyes, muttering something about Natsu needing a hobby before the two began bickering.

Lucy, trying to keep the mood light, turned to you. “So, how’s everything been lately?” she asked warmly.

You answered her questions with short, cold responses that left little room for further conversation. Your guarded demeanor didn’t go unnoticed by Laxus, who silently observed from beside you but refrained from commenting.

Then, the atmosphere shifted as Makarov entered the hall. His voice boomed over the chatter. “I have an announcement to make!” He paused, his gaze sweeping over everyone before landing on you and Laxus. A sly grin spread across his face. “But first—don’t you two make a fine couple?”

The guild erupted with whistles and teasing remarks, your cheeks flushing bright red. “We’re just friends,” you muttered, glaring at the floor as if it were to blame for the situation.

Laxus wasn’t much better, his face equally red as he barked, “Gramps! What the hell are you saying?!”

The teasing intensified for a moment, with the guild chiming in their agreement, before Makarov held up his hands for silence. “Alright, enough of that. Let’s move on to something important. I’ve got big news!”

The hall fell quiet as anticipation grew. Makarov’s expression turned serious. “This year, Fairy Tail will be participating in the Grand Magic Games! It’s time to reclaim our title as the number one guild in Fiore!”

Excited murmurs spread through the crowd, quickly escalating into cheers. Natsu punched the air, shouting about how he couldn’t wait to crush everyone in the games.

Makarov raised his voice again. “We’ve got three months to train. Make them count! I want to see every one of you pushing yourselves to your limits.”

As the guild broke into smaller groups to discuss training plans, Laxus turned to you, his golden eyes intent. “Train with me.”

You blinked, slightly taken aback. “Why?”

He crossed his arms, his tone casual but firm. “I want to know more about you. And training’s the best way to see what someone’s made of.”

For a moment, you hesitated. There was something in his voice, something earnest that caught you off guard. You nodded slowly. “Alright. Let’s do it.”

A faint smirk tugged at his lips. “Good. We start tomorrow.”

As the guild buzzed with excitement around you, you couldn’t help but feel a twinge of anticipation yourself. Training with Laxus would be intense, but maybe it was exactly what you needed—not just to prepare for the games, but to figure out where things stood between the two of you.
