As the clock struck 8:00, Frisk felt gentle, soft hands shake them awake lightly.
"Hey, Frisk," Chara whispered, "it's time for our date!"
"But I'm tired," Frisk yawned.
"I'll give you a REAL BIG good morning kiss, honey... now hurry up or we'll miss the quiet part of the morning!"
"Kiss first," Frisk rubbed their eyes.
Chara smiled and rolled over, planting a huge kiss on Frisk's neck, and then kissed them again on the lips. Frisk nodded and got up to change, Chara following suit. Once they had done their hair and gotten dressed, the two crept toward the back door.
Chara opened the door for Frisk before stepping outside behind them. The sky was a light gray, and the air had a slight chill to it. The city streets were quiet, with only a few cars occasionally passing by. Frisk had a backpack strapped over their shoulders.
"Do you know where we should go?" Frisk asked as the two crossed the road.
"There's a real nice field just up the hill," Chara gestured toward a grassy hill in the distance.
"Okay, that sounds great," Frisk smiled.
After a few minutes, Chara and Frisk crested the hill, looking down on a vast field, made of healthy green grass. A large oak tree sat near the edge of the field. The sun, peeking through the clouds, illuminated the area.
"This is pretty," Frisk said.
"Yeah, I thought so too," Chara replied, staring down the hill.
"Would right here be good for a picnic?" Frisk asked after a bit of walking.
"Sure!"
Frisk removed their backpack and opened it, spreading a red blanket across the grass. Chara helped them unload their food onto the blanket. The two sat down, smiling at each other as they began to eat their food.
"It's so quiet out here," Frisk commented, looking around.
"It really is. I love the morning," Chara responded.
"This was a GREAT idea, Chara," Frisk grinned.
"Thanks," Chara blushed.
"It also is a good way to spend the end of summer."
"Yep! Ugh, it's gonna get all murky soon."
"I love the fall! The leaves are so beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as you," Chara leaned over to hug Frisk, who's hand rubbed Chara's back. After a few seconds, they went back to eating, watching the clouds dissipate and the sun rise.
"Not too hungry, huh?" Chara asked through a mouthfull of food.
"Oh - I... don't have a very big appetite," Frisk muttered.
"That's okay. Sans and Papyrus will LOVE your leftovers."
"True!"
Once the two finished eating, the sun now bright in the sky, they put away their stuff and set off toward a path of bright pink flowers. The flowers smelled of fruit. A few bees buzzed about, collecting pollen.
"So, what's next?" Frisk asked as they set their backpack down.
"Well... I have something for you," Chara smiled, holding a bouquet of the pink flowers.
"Aww, thank you, Chara!" Frisk took the flowers and very gently touched their nose to them and smelled them, twirling around in their skirt.
"You're welcome," Chara replied.
"Ummmmmmm... do you... wanna... dance now?"
"I - I'm bad at it... it's really embarrassing."
"I'm your lover, Chara, I could never judge you."
"I know, I just... can never match you, Frisk."
"Well... we don't have to," Frisk said.
"No! It'll be okay! What song do we do?" asked Chara.
"I was thinking Bobby Eyelash's new song-"
"No, we have to do Honeycomb!"
"Honey what?"
"Honeycomb by Jimmie Rodgers. Search it up."
"Er - alright then."
Frisk retrieved their phone from the backpack and looked up the song. It played from the phone speaker, a romantic, cheery guitar song. Turning up the volume, they set the phone down and began to dance gracefully and quickly, their skirt fluttering into the air.
"This is a good song!" Frisk exclaimed.
Chara nodded in reply as they awkwardly swung their hips from side to side, not matching the beat. Frisk stifled laughter and spun again, moving toward their partner.
"See? You're so much better..." Chara sighed.
"You still look great," Frisk held Chara's hands and directed their dancing.
Chara's shoed feet trampled over Frisk's, but they were starting to get it.
"Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!" Chara exclaimed each time they bumped into Frisk.
"It's alright," Frisk chuckled, "okay, now twirl me around."
"Uh... like this?" Chara spun their companion around by their hand.
Frisk exclaimed with joy and - as the song reached its end, fell back into Chara's arms. Now holding Frisk in their arms, they leaned down and kissed them, as Frisk's hands wrapped around Chara's stomach. Chara pulled Frisk up to their feet, still kissing them, and hugged them very tight before finally pulling away.
"That... was fun," Chara blushed.
"You did great, Chara. You're a LOVELY dancer."
"Oh, stop! You're a million times better."
"Er - I guess..."
The two slowly moved off of each other, the light breeze rustling the flowers around them, Frisk's glittery skirt billowing in the air. It was nearly silent in the field, and all Frisk and Chara wanted was to be together forever...
