Four Months Later
"Sage, we need you to switch outfits now," the photographer said, gesturing towards the clothing rack on the side of the set.
I shuffled my way to the rack where Ashleigh and Tanya, the clothing designer, was. The majority of the clothes were high-end dresses; they reminded me of prom and how I never went to mine when I was in high school. I suppose I was living out my inner-girl fantasy with this photo shoot.
We were more than halfway through the shoot now and to be honest, I was kind of over it all and wanted to leave. Mainly because Kells and the gang - including Casie - would be in Los Angeles soon.
It had been about a month since I had last seen Kells. He had been on tour since his sophomore album, General Admission, had dropped, so he had little time to see me. Though I missed him tremendously, I was understanding - I was quite busy myself.
I looked over at Ashleigh, who was leaning against a table full of accessories near the clothing rack. "Could you get me something to drink, please?"
She nodded quickly and walked away. I turned my attention to Tanya, who was speaking to one of her assistants. "They want you in the blue gown, sweetheart," she said to me, handing me a crystallized dress.
My breath caught when I laid my eyes on it. "Go ahead and change. I'll be back with the shoes," she instructed.
I nodded, making my way to the makeshift dressing room in the corner of the room.
I unzipped myself out of the sequined peplum dress I was in, staring at myself in the mirror. After a few seconds, I zipped myself in the blue gown I was given... or at least tried to. The dress refused to zip up around my waist.
I began to panic; this was the next dress to be photographed. I studied myself in the mirror. The dress was tight-fitting, mermaid style. I shimmied my way out of it to study my naked self.
My hair was back to its dark color but still on the short side. I decided to give the length a longer go for the fall; my hair usually grew back quickly anyways.
My makeup needed to be refreshed and I found a new bruise that was forming on my arm that I needed to tell Laurie, the makeup artist, to cover up.
Everything else seemed normal.
I turned around, looking for what could be the problem. Maybe it was my ass...
I turned to the side and looked in the mirror. It looked as if I had gained a little weight, which seemed almost impossible because I was on a strict diet and exercise routine.
Then it hit me.
"Oh my god..." I breathed. I rested my hands on my stomach for a moment. "No, no, no, no, no."
Now that I had actually thought about it, I hadn't gotten my period in a while. How does something like that just slip one's mind? I must have been so preoccupied with my schedule that I didn't even realize...
"Sage?" I heard Ashleigh call. I jumped, startled. "I have your water."
I peeked my head out from behind the curtains, faking a quick smile. "Thanks," I said, taking it from her.
"You need any help with the dress?" she asked, running her fingers through her blonde hair.
I quickly shook my head. "Could you just hand me my spanks? They're on the table over there," I pointed to where the rest of my personal belongings were. She nodded, taking a moment to grab them and handed them over to me. It was rare I ever used them, but there were there for those occasions I did need them; this was definitely a day. "I'll be out in a minute," I said before disappearing behind the curtain again.
