I was completely excited for a number of different reasons - first because we were back in California, and just in time for the last weekend of Coachella. Second, because I was back in the sun - my natural habitat, which always made me happier. And lastly, because of Kells.
He had changed his ways, significantly, but not to the point where he had to change who he was. He was still an out of control wild boy with a drinking problem, but only now, he came home to me - and no one else.
Of course, Kells was who he was, so the flirting was still present and it was often something I didn't mind, as long as I could claim my territory by the end of the night.
We hadn't had sex - still.
And I still haven't told him I love him.
Mostly because I was scared to admit that someone else had such immense control over me. I was scared to admit that someone else would break me so easily. I was scared to admit that I loved him because it would change it all - it would change me.
It was a little past 11 AM when our van pulled into the Empire Polo Club. It was practically impossible to find a parking spot with the amount of bodies and cars that were present. Even though it was a three-day event, we could only manage to squeeze in the festival for a day because of Kells' busy tour schedule. I planned to make the best out of it, regardless.
I grinned almost immediately when Slim parked the van. The entire group was restless - no one besides myself had ever been to Coachella. Today, I was in charge of the day's festivities and I was fine with it.
As we all piled out of the van, stretching and observing the large amount of people, I felt an arm snake around my bare waist. I smiled. I glanced up; he was looking off into the crowds of people, absentmindedly beating his fingers against my stomach.
During the past few days, we had grown more and more comfortable with each other. If he wasn't holding my hand or resting it on my knee, he was hugging me from behind or planting sweet, innocent kisses on my neck. I loved this affectionate side to him. It was rare anyone ever saw this side.
"Alright, does everyone have their passes?" Ashleigh asked as she walked around the van to us; JP and Slim followed, along with the rest of the gang. My pass was hanging on a lanyard around my neck, along with everyone else's.
"Let's just go, please," I said, beginning to walk towards the entrance. I couldn't bare the excitement any longer. The warm sensation disappeared from my waist; I grinned, despite the feeling. "I'm way too excited right now."
Kells and Slim chuckled at each other as Ashleigh made her way toward me. She linked her arm with mine as we began to walk toward the entrance.
I had taken it upon myself to dress everyone accordingly. I didn't want anyone standing out in their normal attire - especially Kells, who would no doubt be recognized by some crazed fans when we stepped onto the park grounds.
I wore my hair up, lazily, a few random strands falling loosely around my face. I had bought a new outfit in anticipation of today - a cute, crochet halter top and a pair of high-waisted denim shorts. I threw on a few assorted bracelets and necklaces and finally, strappy sandals to complete the outfit. I had dressed Ashleigh in shorts and a white crochet tank top with a pair of cute floral flip flops.
I glanced back at the boys, smiling. They were all walking together behind us, talking animatedly about something. I had dressed Kells in his favorite cut-out tank top with a radical marijuana leaf on it and paired it off with a pair of denim cut-off shorts. His hair was freshly cut but hidden under a dark beanie. He wrapped the entire outfit with his classic red chucks. He looked completely irresistible, and he was all mine.
