I was sitting at my desk, highlighting important sections of my notes. The classroom was noisy as usual but I stayed focused. I noticed Fourth entering the room. His presence was hard to miss—his calm demeanor stood out amidst the chaos.
My eyes instinctively landed on a bracelet he wore on his left wrist. It looked simple yet oddly captivating, its faint glow catching the sunlight streaming in through the window.
He waved at me as our eyes met. I managed a small smile but didn’t engage further, burying myself back in my business. Fourth didn’t seem to mind and walked over to sit on a bench near Winny, Satang, and a few others.
Minutes later, a commotion outside the classroom broke my concentration. Curious murmurs erupted as some boys began arguing loudly. Their raised voices and shoving drew attention from everyone. Without hesitation, Fourth and Satang rushed out to intervene. I watched from my seat, peeking through the window, as Fourth stepped in to calm them down.
"Why does this creature always have to get involved?" I muttered to myself but couldn’t look away. One of the boys grabbed Fourth’s wrist, the one with the bracelet. My chest tightened as the scene unfolded. The boy shoved Fourth roughly, yelling, "Don’t interfere!" I could see the bracelet tugging against the force, its thread threatening to snap.
"Fourth!" I called his name, my voice breaking through the tension. Pushing my books aside, I rushed out.
"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!" I demanded, my voice louder than I expected. The crowd stilled, and for a moment, the chaos paused. All eyes turned to me, including Fourth’s. Before anyone could respond, our teacher appeared, his stern voice dispersing the crowd. "Back to your seats, all of you!"
The students hurried back inside, muttering under their breaths. Fourth lingered near the doorway, rubbing his wrist where the boy had grabbed him. I approached him, determined to drag him back to class before he got into more trouble. Without thinking, I reached out and grabbed his left hand, intending to pull him along.
"Ah shiaa!" A sharp jolt surged through my hand, making me flinch. It felt like an electric shock. Startled, I let go immediately, staring at my tingling palm.
"What happened?" Fourth asked, his brows furrowed in confusion. His eyes scanned me, searching for an explanation.
"Don't know" I stammered, still clutching my hand. My mind raced, but I couldn’t make sense of what just happened. The bracelet?
Fourth seemed unconvinced but nodded. We walked back to our seats in silence. I could still feel the faint tingling in my hand, and my thoughts kept drifting back to the bracelet.

As the class neared its end, the teacher stood by his desk, gathering his materials before making an announcement. His voice cut through the chatter in the room, commanding everyone’s attention.
"There will be a physics assignment," he began, pausing to let the groans and sighs settle. "And you’ll complete it with the person sitting next to you. Partners will remain as they are now. The assignment is due the day after tomorrow."
With that, he grabbed his books and left the room, I slumped back in my chair, rolling my eyes. Of course, it had to be Fourth.
"Jesus Christ!" I groaned, throwing my hands up dramatically like I was praying for divine intervention. My voice was loud enough to earn a few chuckles from nearby desks, but I didn’t care. I was already imagining the awkwardness of working with Fourth.
I heard a soft laugh beside me. Glancing over, I found Fourth grinning at my theatrics. "Cute," he murmured, the word slipping out before he could stop himself.
