(Long chapter 💗)
AUNT'S POV
"Everything would have been cleared up today if his friends hadn't come," I mutter. I’ve raised Gemini since he was a child, yet despite my efforts, I can't bear the sight of him. How can one person be so fortunate? Both his parents died in that accident, and yet this small child survived?
The only reason I kept him with me was because of my husband's insistence. Everything I had carefully planned has been ruined by his meddling friends.
I’ve tried to kill him many times before, but somehow, I’ve always failed to complete the task. Suddenly, Luke approaches me. "Let's see how much you can try this time. He brought a bunch of friends today. Didn't you want to be a good aunt? Now go on and be a good aunt, and do whatever he orders," Luke says, rolling his eyes.
"I'm trying, can't you see?" I reply, stirring the curry on the stove with a spoon.
"You’ve tried many times before, but have you succeeded?" he retorts, taking a sip of his juice.
"Go, go, you can just go and kill him if you’re so eager, stupid" I snap, my blood boiling with anger.
"Even though..." Luke pauses, "...his mum and dad registered the documents in his name," he says before walking away.
I can’t believe my own son is talking to me like this. "If I don’t kill him, he’s going to become the CEO of TC Company?" I think to myself, the realisation hitting me hard. "No way! He’s an orphan!" I scream in frustration, the weight of the situation finally sinking in.
GEMINI
Fourth and I finally sat down for dinner just as I saw my aunt approaching with a bowl of curry. Luke was already at the table, engrossed in his phone, typing away. When he noticed us, he looked up and waved at Fourth.
"Hey," he greeted casually.
"Hey, Phee," Fourth replied, smiling as he took a seat beside me.
Luke glanced curiously at him, setting his phone down on the table. "What's your name?" he asked, clasping his hands together in front of him, leaning forward slightly.
"I'm Fourth," he answered, just as they were about to dive into a conversation. I grabbed a plate and handed it to Fourth.
"Eat quickly, we’ve got a lot of work to do," I reminded him, picking up the curry and serving it.
A moment later, my aunt returned with a plate of sweets in her hands. "Where are the others?" she asked me.
"They've already had dinner, so they're resting now," Fourth answered before I could. She smiled warmly, setting it in front of me. "Gemini, I made these especially for you," she said with pride.
I furrowed my brows, pushing the plate away. "I don’t like sweets," I replied bluntly. She knows this—it’s not exactly a secret.
"But I made them just for you, Gemini," she insisted, pushing the plate towards me again. Something about her felt a bit off. Suspicious, even.
"I'm not going to eat that," I said firmly, shoving the bowl of sweets aside.
"I like sweets," Fourth chimed in, reaching for the plate. "Can I have some?"
But before he could grab one, my aunt swiftly pulled the plate back. "Nah uhh" she said, almost too quickly. The air felt awkward for a second, the tension palpable.
As we continued eating in silence, Luke broke the stillness by asking, "So, are you single?"
Fourth blinked at him, clearly taken aback by the random question. "Uh, I'm 19," he replied with an awkward smile, unsure of how to respond.
