In the bar’s private room.

The cast and crew of the production were finishing up their dinner party. Just about everyone had some alcohol in their system. Jin Shi was accompanying

Luo Ying out. They happened to run into Lu Zhao, who was here to pick her up.

When the production crew saw this, they all held a collective breath.

“Eh? Why are you here?” Luo Ying had a straight face. She did not look the least bit drunk. However, her footsteps were lopsided. She tried to take a few steps but almost tripped.

“I’m here to pick you up.” Lu Zhao hurriedly took a few steps forward to catch her.

Jin Shi extended a hand to help as well. He subconsciously brought his sister to his side, not wanting her to lean on Lu Zhao.

At the same moment, both of them turned their heads to face each other. There was a brief moment of open hostility.

To the crew, this looked like the beginning of war. It was about to turn into a murder scene!

“Who is that?” Some of them couldn’t see their faces clearly. “That’s Lu Zhao, you dolt. Stop talking.”

“Are we about to witness a scandal?” The busybody teased.

“Something doesn’t feel right. How come Jin Shi’s eyes resemble the one catching a couple in the act rather than President Lu’s?” Someone with sharp eyes pondered.

“Just shut up! Do you want them to hear you? If they find your dead body in the bushes tomorrow, don’t say I didn’t warn you!” Someone waved them off.

For a moment, Jin Shi and Lu Zhao were locked in a perplexing stare-down, but eventually, Jin Shi released his hand.

“I’ll have to trouble you to take care of Luo Ying.” Anxiety could be seen in Jin Shi’s eyes. “There’s still work for me to do. I have to go first. When she wakes up, I’ll give her a call.”

He was distraught over the prospect of his sister leaving with Lu Zhao, but he couldn’t stop them.

“Yes.” There were no further inquiries from Lu Zhao. He simply walked the now-rambling Luo Ying to his vehicle.

Luo Ying stumbled into the car and leaned back against the back of the seat, muttering softly.

She didn’t ask, “Where are you taking me?” until Lu Zhao was almost back at the house.

“Home.” Lu Zhao comforted her.

“Home? But my house isn’t here.” Luo Ying looked at the scenery outside the window in confusion.

A knot formed in Lu Zhao’s stomach. With some effort, he finally said, “It’s here.”

Lu Zhao still considered this house theirs, even though they were divorced. He was trying to keep it safe for himself and Luo Ying.

“Home is where the heart is, and this is it. I can’t go back to my home anymore,” Luo Ying muttered, as if she had just had an epiphany.

For a second, Lu Zhao appeared relieved, but then a flood of complicated thoughts engulfed him.

Luo Ying still felt a connection to their house, even though she was living in the wrong world. When was the last time he saw Luo Ying drunk? She had mumbled incoherently that she longed for her loved ones from the other side.

Luo Ying… She probably wanted to go back to that world. She had appeared out of nowhere. Would she disappear just as abruptly one day?

A feeling of unease flooded Lu Zhao’s heart.

Luo Ying’s sudden retch interrupted Lu Zhao’s train of thought. He quickly helped Luo Ying into the house and busied himself with making honey water.

Just now, Lu Zhao felt a brief pang of unease, but he forced that feeling deep down inside himself.

The next morning, Luo Ying was roused from sleep by her phone’s incessant ringing and vibrating.

“Oh…” Luo Ying rubbed her sore temples and blinked groggily.

The curtains were drawn so that she wouldn’t be disturbed by the light of day. When Luo Ying looked at her phone, she saw that it was almost 11 a.m.

Some of the unread messages on her phone were from Lu Zhao and had been coming in rapidly all morning.

[I’m going to work. There’s breakfast in the kitchen. If you don’t like it, just ask the cook.]

[Are you awake?]

[I helped you apply for leave from the production team.]

[Send me a message when you wake up.]

It appears that Lu Zhao drove her home last night.

Luo Ying shook her head. Her temples were constantly throbbing with pain. She acted recklessly last night. That cocktail tasted like fruit juice. She had not expected it to be such a hard hitter.

She replied to Lu Zhao’s message and looked at the phone call just now. It was Chi Tong.

Since he was having trouble getting through, he had left her a few messages.

It was the subsequent schedules. A live broadcast event for a major brand was coming up, and Luo Ying had been invited to take part.

“No problem. Send me the script.” Luo Ying got out of bed and into a fresh set of clothes after she finished replying to all her messages.

“Miss Luo, you’re awake. Do you want to eat something? Breakfast is still warm, but lunch would have to wait.” The cook noticed Luo Ying coming down and politely inquired..
