41. "Shadows of the Past" (season 1)

Eon returns, seeking revenge on Ben and Gwen, while Dorian Vale and Lilith Nightshade launch a deadly plan to destroy the Tennyson and Levin families.

[Scene: A secluded area outside of Bellwood. The sun has just begun to set. Ben, Gwen, and Kevin are gathered around, on high alert.]

Ben:
I can't believe it... Eon's back.
He really knows how to make an entrance, huh?

Gwen:
Ben, we've been through this before. Eon's not just after you-he's after all of us.
But this time... there's something else. He's not working alone.
Dorian Vale and Lilith Nightshade? I don't like this.

Kevin:
Great, just what we needed-more trouble. Like we weren't already dealing with enough. You guys have got a plan, right?

Ben:
Of course, I've got a plan.
I'm thinking I could just go all-out with Way Big and crush everything in sight.
But...
Eon's not exactly someone I can just punch out of existence. He knows us better than anyone. I can't underestimate him.
I mean, I've got Heatblast, Four Arms, and even XLR8 to help, but Eon's power... it's on a whole other level.

Gwen:
Don't forget about me. I can handle myself.
We have to stay focused. If Eon really is working with Dorian and Lilith, we need to figure out what their endgame is. They wouldn't come all the way here just to taunt us.
I can use my magical abilities to help, but I think we need more intel.

Kevin:
Intel? From who?
Eon isn't exactly the "chatty villain" type.

Gwen:
I have my ways. I can sense when something isn't right, and I have some ideas about where they might be hiding.
We need to track their movements, figure out how they plan to attack.
And if we get a chance, I can sneak into their minds-find out what they really want.

Ben:
Look, I know we've got the whole "teamwork" thing going for us, but I need to ask something first.
Kevin, are you sure you're ready for this? I mean, we're going to face Eon, Dorian, and Lilith. That's not something we can just brush off.
The last time you fought alongside us, you barely got by with your Antitrix powers.

Kevin:
Ben, I'm done hiding behind my past mistakes.
I'm ready. I've been training, learning new ways to use my abilities.
If you think you can handle this without me, think again. We're a team. I'm not letting you face this alone.

Gwen:
Kevin's right. We've been through worse and come out on top.
Remember what we did when Vilgax returned? Or when the Highbreed tried to wipe out Earth?

Ben:
Yeah, I remember.
Alright, fine. We stick together. Let's go take care of this.
But before we do that, let me try something.
I'll start with Heatblast-see if I can light up the area and force Eon to show his hand.

Gwen:
We can't just charge in without thinking this through, Ben. Eon's smart. If you make the first move, we might fall right into his trap.

Kevin:
What, like Eon would wait for us to mess up so he could gloat? Yeah, right.
We need to keep him on his toes. That's how you win.

Ben:
Alright, alright. No need to get all "macho hero" on me.
But I'm starting with Heatblast. We'll see if that gets their attention. If not, we change tactics.

[Suddenly, the ground shakes as a figure emerges from the shadows-Eon, floating ominously in front of them.]

Eon:
Ah, Ben Tennyson.
I've been waiting for this moment. You think you're ready?
You've never been able to beat me before, and now, with Dorian Vale and Lilith Nightshade on my side, I will finally have my revenge.

Ben:
Eon, I don't have time for your speeches.
Heatblast!
[Ben transforms into Heatblast and launches a burst of fire toward Eon.]

Eon:
Foolish.
[Eon waves his hand, and the fire is absorbed into the air around him.]
You still haven't learned, have you?
