"You didn't pass the typing test," Yibo repeated.
He is really stupid! He didn't have much to say, just gave a little nod. If that's the reason for not hiring him, just because he failed the typing test, then so be it.
Lan Wang Yibo raised an eyebrow at how nonchalant he was about it. "But you aced all your other tests. Your scores are above average. Out of all the applicants, you had the best results."
"Oh. Thank you."
"You are single and twenty-eight years old," Yibo murmured and again looked down into his files. Yibo lifted his head again and locked eyes with him. Zhan, feeling a bit uneasy, turned his gaze away, worried that if he looked into Yibo's eyes, his real age of twenty-two would be revealed. Instead, he concentrated on the folder in his hands and gave a nod.
He purposely added six years to his age.
"Are you seeing anyone, Mr. Xiao?" Yibo asked with a charming smirk, his tone suggesting he was hoping for a single status.
Zhan raised an eyebrow, caught off guard by such a personal question during the interview.
Zhan squared his shoulders and raised his chin a fraction. "Yes. I do have a boyfriend, sir." He explicitly uses the term "boyfriend" rather than "girlfriend," so Yibo will understand his preference.
"Oh, I see a boyfriend," Lan Wang Yibo said simply and nodded. "You're the sixth person I've interviewed this morning, Mr. Xiao, and the only one to have admitted being in a relationship."
Zhan could hear the amusement in his voice. Was Yibo actually entertained by his response? Did he find it hard to believe that someone like him could be in a relationship? Did Yibo see through his lie? Or was he just thinking about the other applicants who claimed to be single, Zhan found himself smiling without even trying.
"Care to share what that smile is all about?" Yibo asked, catching Zhan off guard since he didn't think Yibo would notice his grin.
"N-nothing important, Sir. I... I just remember something funny."
Yibo's lips twitched at the corner in a smile. "Or because you also can't believe that all of them are single."
Zhan tried to force the man's perceptiveness to breathe.
"Do you think they lied, Mr. Xiao, considering that they have beautiful personalities and are at the right age?"
"I-I have no way of knowing that, Sir." Is this how he conducts interviews? Yibo leaned back, looking so tempting, like a melting popsicle that Zhan just wanted to devour before it dripped away.
"So, you already have someone special, Mr. Xiao, but do you think you can entertain other admirers?" Again, Yibo smiled, in his most charismatic smile.
His cheeks flushed. That question had nothing to do with the position he was applying for. Zhan was correct in his assumptions. The test starts in the interview.
He couldn't blame the previous applicant for falling for this man. And if his cousin Ziyi hadn't warned him, he would probably have been fooled by now. But then as his cousin said, Zhan was always sensible. And he hated this man for being so pompous.
In fairness, he had seen and known many handsome men but he was not impressed like this. The man was charismatic and oozing with sex appeal Yibo is the kind of guy that just looking at him makes you daydream about how amazing it would feel to be wrapped in his arms and kissed by him. If you're lucky enough to be his partner, you might find yourself a bit anxious about being away from him.
