"Don't play with me, Xiao Zhan," Shen Guangshan snapped. "I noticed the way you looked at me that day. Yibo might not have noticed it. But I didYibo assume that Zhou Fei's insult was what made you angry, but I believe there's more to it. People like you are used to being bullied and insulted!"

Zhan inhaled deeply, wondering what kind of person Shen Guangshan was and how he could look down on others like that.

Shen Guangshan leaned over, placing his hands on the edge of Zhan's desk."Even Zhou Fei noticed the disrespect and anger you had towards her when she came here last time." What is it, Xiao Zhan? I demand to know!".

"I don't know what you're talking about." Zhan met his eyes levelly. Even though he was fuming inside, he made an effort to hide it from Shen Guangshan. Right then, he could sense how dangerous the old man was just from his actions and words.

"Just like Mr. Lan said, no matter who is here in my place, your daughter will always feel jealous."

"You're not the type that makes Zhou Fei jealous. You're just a low-level employee and could get fired from this place any day now. And you are not angry with Zhou Fei for what she said, you're directing that anger at me! I saw you glaring at me before you looked away."

"Is that why you're here, Mr. Shen? Just because you feel I'm angry with you. I've never seen you here in the office in my one year here. But do you know of any reason for me to be angry with you?" Zhan's voice held a challenge, he couldn't stop himself.

Shen Guangshan held his posture firm, locking eyes with him. He was ready to say something, but then Yu Bin peeked through the door. He was the accountant who became his best friend in the office.

"Good morning, Sir," Yu Bin greeted Shen Guangshan and then turned his attention to him. "Zhan, isn't Mr. Lan here yet?"

Shen Guangshan quickly walked towards the door, at last, he was out.

"Is there something wrong with Mr. Shen, Zhan? Why does he look angry?" Yu Bin watched the old man until he was out of view, then turned back to Zhan.

Zhan gave a little shrug as if a storm had just passed through him. He took a deep breath to steady himself and tried to forget about Shen Guangshan. With a friendly smile, he turned to Yu Bin, who was of average height and had his own charm. "Why are you looking for Mr. Lan?"

"It's Friday, friend," Yu Bin said as he plopped down in the chair at his desk. "Just a reminder that payroll for Hebei Province site is due tomorrow, but Mr. Lan hasn't signed off on the checks yet since he wasn't around yesterday."

"Oh, I forgot! He's got a lunch meeting at Mandarin Oriental. He'll probably head right there."

"Looks like we might miss the deadline. The bank closes at four, and it's not open tomorrow. The boss didn't come in yesterday, and we thought he'd be around today."

"He's getting married. so he's pretty occupied at the moment." His voice was apologetic for Yibo. He didn't want the team to think that Yibo was slacking off lately just because of Zhou Fei's whims.

He checked the time on his wrist. "It's just eleven, maybe Mr. Lan will be here after his meeting at the Mandarin Oriental."

Yu Bin glanced at the piles of checks and vouchers on the side of his desk.

"Zhan, make sure he signs the payroll check first so the messenger can deposit it at the bank before it closes." When Yu Bin remembers something. "Isn't the older Lan also a signatory?"
