Chapter 16

Now

The Samurai, who Seiko had learned was named Shinobu, shifted uncomfortably in her seat. The players sat in the corner of an empty rundown tavern. Seiko had reluctantly agreed to meet up with the adventurers they met in the desert but for what reason, he was unsure. The loot had been divided fairly. What more was there to discuss?

"Since we met last week, my friend and I have been talking about you two." Shinobu placed her folded hands on the table.

"You had mentioned in your messages that you were looking to make some serious cash, right? We are in the same boat ourselves." She asked.

Seiko looked confused. What message? It dawned on him then as Oaklee shifted beside him. He shot her a look that burned into the side of her head. He was about to walk out of the meeting. He stood but his Ai put her hand on his arm.

"Seiko, come on man, just hear them out at least." Oaklee pleaded.

The Bard, Hendricks, came to her aid. "The truth is we've been struggling since the Ai patch also with just a two-man team. It can't be any easier for you either, playing solo."

Seiko sighed. "There isn't really an incentive to work in a group if the earnings are going to be split three ways." He got up from the table, swiping towards the log out screen.

"We aren't talking about item farming. Our plan is to form a bounty guild." Shinobu said.

This got Seiko's attention. He paused for a moment. Then turned to them.

"Bounty hunting? That's sounds more dangerous than the Dragon King. The only bounties worth taking are for- "

"High level players." The bard interrupted. "Its high risk, high reward work."

"Guild Leaders, Streamers, Celebs... The folks people want merc'd are typically always gonna have their entourages with them, all with top tier raid gear. We could have 20 more party members and we still wouldn't be able to get to them." Seiko retorted.

"Normally you would be right. But- "The samurai stood from the table. She swiped through the UI. After selecting something, her body began to glow. In a flash, her traditional Japanese samurai attire vanished. It was replaced with bulky black armor. The armaments were covered in shining onyx scales, etched in glowing green runes. A jagged helmet covered her head. The front of it looked like a mouth full of fangs. She swiped through her menu once more and a new sword materialized on her belt. The katana was almost longer than the Samurai's whole body and its scabbard had the same runic design as the armor.

"Kings Robe and King's Tooth. Hendricks gave up his share of materials so I could craft both."

"But he died. He wouldn't have gotten anything from the boss." Seiko said.

"Support classes get drops as long as they provide a minimum of 5 buffs in the encounter and output a minimum of 30k damage." Shinobu responded.

Oaklee examined the armor up close. She whistled, impressed by its stats.

"Sei... This is exotic class! It has a 200% regen rate! And the sword has..." Oaklee pulled up information as the samurai let her touch the blade.

"Oh damn. Wielder gains doubled attack potency from the King's tooth while wearing King's Robe."

"With this, I'd make a pretty good distraction don't you think?" Shinobu smiled as she spoke.

"A distraction? And what would you be trying to distract people from?" the skeptical ranger asked.
