Chapter 40

DOOM. DOOM. DOOM.

The sound of fists pounding against hard, dense bone. It cracked under the force of each impact. The lights in the skull's eyes had long faded, the death knight's body lie limp in the dust. Still, Aramais continued to smash his fists against its head. Each time the cracks grew wider, he'd jam his fingers in and peel back more bone, flinging it into the dust. A smirk touched his lips as the impacts reverberated up his arms. The once menacing looking skull was reduced to a jagged, unrecognizable mess. He stopped suddenly as he heard footsteps. Out of an abandoned shed, walked Thomas. As his user approached, he covered a piece of bone with his foot to hide it.

"No loot in there. Guess we should see what he dropped this time. Fingers crossed!" He crouched down next to his Ai.

"Oh... The face is a lot more damaged than I thought. Probably won't get Zerfallen this time around." Sure enough, as Thomas pulled up the loot tab on his Ui, there was no legendary item.

"Dangit! That's like 50 times now we've killed this guy! Drop the friggin mask!" The healer yelled at the corpse.

"I suppose we will just have to keep at it." Aramais said nonchalantly.

"Yeah, I guess. Ugh I'm so tired of this fight."

The monk turned his back toward Thomas. He could barely contain himself. The smirk had twisted into a sadistic toothy grin. He clutched at his mouth with both hands, trying desperately to stop laughter from pouring out. He finally composed himself, turning back to his companion to console him.

"Oh, come on now Thomas. We'll get there eventually. Let's go a couple more rounds before calling it today. What do you say?"

His user just sighed and made his way back to the mission start where the death knight was summoned.

"You know, if I didn't know better, I'd say you were enjoying this." He said as he passed Aramais.

The Ai looked back at his handiwork.

"That's ridiculous." He leered.
