Chapter 52
Now
Though momentarily caught off guard, Ogun wasn't easily shaken. An enemy rushing him head on wasn't the hardest thing to counter either. He could see Seiko's blade coming up to cut his throat, which he dodged with little effort. It was almost laughably slow to him. Was this really the best the ranger could do? But then, the scimitar changed direction at a sharp angle, accelerating much faster now it caught him on the inside of the elbow. A couple drops of Ogun's blood sprayed from the wound. It was not particularly deep, but he had to give the ranger credit.
"You're fighting smarter than you did last night... Good." He praised his opponent.
Seiko was too focused for banter. His slashes were quick, lashing out in a flurry. In the back of his mind, he could hear Shinobu's instruction.
(He favors puts his weight to his left when he counters.)
Seiko swung in a large downward toward Ogun's skull and sure enough the counter came out. At the last second, he let go of the scimitar. Ogun was surprised once again as Seiko wrapped both of his arms around his left punch, twisted his hips then pulled the fighter forward and off balance. The arena spun as he went careening onto his back.
SMACK!
He hit the floor hard.
He'd been thrown! The smaller ranger had hip tossed him like a sack of potatoes! Not only that, his assailant had locked in a death grip on his left arm. Seiko flipped his legs onto Ogun's barrel of a chest for leverage and cranked the arm in a direction it wasn't supposed to go, digging his fingers in to ensure Ogun couldn't slip out. He had him! It was an arm bar, a move he'd seen on tv. It worked like a charm. His opponent wasn't done yet though, tightening every muscle fiber in his arm, he began to pull his arm back. Seiko panicked for a moment, as he felt himself being picked up off the ground.
His strength is inhuman!
He lashed out with the heel of his boot and caught Ogun on the side of the face hard, causing him to drop back to the tile. The harder the fighter resisted the more of his blood sprayed onto Seiko.
"Ah. So, you were targeting my joints to weaken them. That is very clever." Ogun said casually.
Seiko pulled like his life depended on it. In fact, it very well might have. He gasped and strained his entire body and finally the arm became straight. He had full control.
Yes!
"Give up! Or I'll snap it off!" He roared.
Seiko was elated. His plan had worked! Shinobu and him had practiced all night but there was no way to know how it would go down in the heat of the moment. Everyone in the stadium was going wild. He could hear his friends cheering like mad. Oaklee was totally dumbstruck. Even she didn't think her partner would change his fighting style so drastically. Luckily, his strategy would end the fight without him having to take any damage. Ogun just had to tap, and it would be over. No problem.
Only.... He hadn't. The man still seemed completely content. There wasn't even an ounce of discomfort on his face. Seiko's frustration flared once more at the sight of him. Ogun looked bored.
"Hey! I know you heard me!" Seiko drove his hips upward and his arms back, bending the arm.
He should be feeling all of this! Did he trick me and not actually turn off the pain blockers?
Seiko thought. No. He saw him do it!
Ogun turned to him slowly, looking at him dead in his eyes. "Don't make empty threats. I'm waiting."
