We both laid on my bed as we were both completely drained from all energy after the intense study session we just put our selves through. Paige majored in human development and family sciences and graduated last year with a bachelor's degree.

Now that she decided to come back for a 5th year she's taking a graduate program. If she was any other normal person after she finishes her graduate program she would go on to be a counselor or a social worker. But not Paige because she's projected to be the number one pick in the 2025 WNBA draft.

I went to an advanced private high school and graduated with my diploma and a bachelors in marketing. Now that I'm at UConn I'm majoring in sports broadcasting and media. And when I graduate next year I'll have a bachelors degree In that too.

"How are your parents?" Paige asked turning her head to look at me. We don't have this question very often. About a year after I graduated high school my parents divorced. That said they wanted to wait until I was out of the house but in my opinion that made things worse.

When I was little I lived in Minnesota. Where I met Paige. And when I was in 5th grade my parents started a business. A clothing production business I know really random. They specialized in making quality hand made clothes. When I was going into 7th grade we up and moved to New York City.

They weren't around very often when I was younger and now that their business was skyrocketing they were practically never home. We started living more lavishly taking trips, buying designer clothes and all that good stuff.

My dad had many affairs that he didn't keep a secret. Random women's clothes and other items would arrive at our house and there was once a thank you note sent in the mail. Thanking my father for an " eventful unforgettable night".

So after they divorced they kept the company a partnership and married other people. Now my mom lives in Italy with a man named Mario who's my age. And my father is living in France with a girl named Aisha from Slovenia she's younger than me.

Gross I know. "Well Mario is buying my mom a yatch and I have a feeling that I'm going to have a half sibling here soon." I said turning my head to face her. "Sometimes I think my parents forgot I was going to grow up. My mom wanted a baby not a 21 year old daughter." I said sarcastically. She knows I joke about it because the truth hurts.

"Well I'm glad you grew up. I don't know if I could be best friends with a one year old my whole life." She said laughing even though it wasn't funny. I slapped her chest gently and she faked a major injury. Rolling her body closer to mine and then on top of me. "Get off your crushing me." I said dramatically trying to push her off.

"Uhg rude much." She said now staying still laying on top of me chest to chest. "You'd think since your the older one you wouldn't be so dramatic" I said pushing the excess hair away from her face as she rested her head on her hands that were propped up on either side of my body.

"I am not dramatic." She said sassily. At that moment my roommate aka best friend Kayla walked in. She must of heard what Paige said as she was laughing. "You dramatic never." She said as she sat down on my bed as well. "We should probably get going here soon." I said after checking the time on my watch.

"But I'm so comfy." Paige said burying her head into my body as I continued to play with her hair. "I have a lot of paper work to do." I said to her protest. "Geno gave you that too." Kayla said in a thankful tone. "Yea I think he spilt it in half between me and you." I said back to her.

Me and Kayla are both interns at the basketball facility. But practically work as Geno's assistant. We fill out all the press release forms, media information, interviews, brand deals. Everything boring. I want to do the interviews the pregame announcements and all that fun stuff. But at least I get to run the UConn women's basketball social media.

I do have my own office at least. Yes it maybe more of a closet but it's mine and I earned it that's all that matters. My entire teenage life I had to prove that I was smart enough to be where I was. Growing up going to a public school in Minnesota I didn't get the same education as all the other kids at my private New York City high school.

No one understood why I didn't choose Princeton or Columbia. Part of the reason was because I need to get the hell out of New York. More so get the hell away from my parents. And the main part of the reason is a 6'0 blonde basketball player who's currently laying on top of me.

I knew coming to UConn I would get a lukewarm education. But I didn't want to be a lawyer or a professor or political figure like all my other classmates. I want to do what I love. With my best friend. That's why I chose UConn.

While the girls practice I work on my mound of paper work and when we're done we make a crumbl run. No one truly understands how much a basketball team of D1 athletes eats until you have to cook for them. My freshman year I volunteered to make thanks giving and host it at my house in New York.

I made 3 turkeys. I'm never doing that again.
