"(Baby we both know) that the nights were mainly made for sayin' things that you can't say tomorrow day," -Do I Wanna Know? by Arctic Monkeys
You sped-walked down the hallways, making a beeline to the nearest back exit of the dorms. The length of each of your strides grew longer and longer as you subconsciously began to walk faster. No thoughts went through your brain other than the counting of steps needed to reach the exit.
Soon enough, you came to the door, opening it up swiftly. The cold, dry, midnight air sent a breeze to your face, as a shivering chill swept down your back. Goosebumps surfaced above your skin, making it prickly to the touch. The shock of the pure cold air stirred all the thoughts in the back of your head to the front. Am I making the right choice? You shook your head, closing your eyes and continuing to walk with your head lowered.
Reconciling with your family was an easy task. Family is family, and no matter what barriers may separate you, family always comes back to each other.
On the other hand, there was Katsuki Bakugo. In almost every way, you considered him a part of your family when growing up. But that's just what you did, you grew up for years without each other. Mending a lost friendship takes more work.
You hated him. You truly did. He had no right to say anything that he said when you were with the League of Villains. But deep down, everything in you hoped something would happen to change your mind and fix the seemingly unrepairable friendship.
The thought of Bakugo snapped you out of your thoughts, reminding you why you were outside in the first place. You stopped in the middle of a sidewalk intersection, doing a 360° turn in search of the blonde.
Not far off in the distance, your eyes traced across a wooden bench, which on top sat Bakugo. His head was lowered, his eyes glossing over the minuscule crevices in the pavement. His legs were in his usual, manspread position. The over-confident ego that was always boasting in his demeanor was reduced to silence.
Carefully taking slow steps, you made your way to the said blonde. You sat down beside him, but neither his expression nor his body gave a reaction. You didn't dare to say the first words.
The heat from his sweat radiated off of him like a fire, seemingly harmless, but getting too close could get you hurt.
After a full minute of sitting in silence, he finally spoke, "Tell me what happened." His voice was demanding and confident, yet simultaneously cautious.
"What's everything?" you asked, knowing there's many topics he could be asking about.
He rolled his eyes, unwilling to display any interest or care, "America."
You nodded, eyes looking up while you thought of how to start. "I guess I'll start with after- after the incident," you began, taking a deep breath. The walls you had built up around your heart after all these years came tumbling down in an instant. "All Might saved us, and the police took me in for questioning. I didn't lie, I told them the whole truth. I wanted to be put in prison, Bakugo. I knew I deserved it."
Your sentence yielded a reaction from him, his eyes squinting slightly as if he was nodding his head.
"They decided I was too young and 'stupid' to commit a crime like that willingly. All Might explained to my family his idea, which was to send me to a quirk camp overseas. He told us it would be like hero training. I was excited. I always wanted to be a hero and help people," the longer you talked, the faster the words spilled out of your mouth.
"Once I got to America, I gave up on all hope. They treated us like criminals, sometimes beating us for 'pain tolerance training.' The physical training was absolute hell, nothing a human body should be capable of going through. I slowly began to hate the hero world. How could they put me in such a place, and still expect me to become one of them?"
