"Avery, you're needed in the conference room," Emily, her best friend and business partner, called out.
Avery turned, her heels clicking on the polished floor. "What's the meeting about?"
"Sebastian Kane's team is here to discuss the charity gala," Emily replied, her voice laced with concern.
Avery's heart skipped a beat. Sebastian Kane. The name echoed through her mind like a warning bell.
She hadn't seen Sebastian in years, not since their explosive breakup in college. The memories still lingered, a mix of passion and pain.
"Avery, are you okay?" Emily asked, noticing her friend's sudden pallor.
